I'm sure someone on here will know:

With shmup games running on a pc on steam can you run them properly on a vertical rotated widescreen monitor giving you a bigger view of the game. I've only seen pictures/ videos of them running on a horizontal monitor which looks a bit crappy with all the artwork around it. Games I'm specifically meaning are

Dodonpachi resurrection
Mushimisame
Crimson clover

Yes, but they are all 4:3 (well 3:4). So you'll still have some border at the top and or bottom.

I have only tried XIIZeal, DeltaZeal, Crimson Clover and Raiden IV on Steam, all of them have tate option

Yes you can Tate most.
I recommend you the following vertical shmups for PC, additional to the mentioned above:
- Blue Revolver
- Don'Yoku
- Super Galaxy Squadron EX
- Final Boss Raw Label (it´s for free)

EDIT:
- Danmaku Unlimited 2 and the upcoming 3

All of them support stretching, but it looks like bobbins when done.

I have a list of the games I bought on Steam that supports TATE (the list don't contain TATE games where I have technical problems, for example Downwell).
I use them all in my NNC and it's great.

I don't think Super Galaxy Squadron EX that were suggested work in TATE, it's a vertical shmup but miss TATE-support.

I picked up DDP Resurrection yesterday as its on sale on Steam Also picked up DariusBurst CS as that is also on sale for some Horizontal fun
