It was for the landmark achievement of swimming 25m, accompanied with a fetching patch for your trunks

An entire length? I sincerely doubt it
I still have all my swimming badges in a box somewhere. I remember mum proudly stitching new ones to my wee Speedos. Just yesterday

Great pics here. I'm going to my mum's tomorrow and will try and dig some out.

That is a room of coolness on so many levels
Some of you might be aware that the following pic was actually MY gaming setup as a kid...(when my brother was out)
Many many MANY nights were spent playing 4 player Goldeneye with my mates, listening to Geto Boys and other Rap LPs on the 1210's.
I haven't got any pix of my own room - megadrive, snes and vcr - connected via RF to a co-op TV (complete with vertical adjustment for ntsc stuff, via a long screwdriver sticking out the back)
The most old skool I can get is 2003 ish - my very first widescreen tv. Shame I don't have pics of the consoles below
Interestingly, the black Bose 4000's that are just visible in the pic above, are in the pic below too, and still in use to this day on a daily basis, just like the 1210's

The TV was bloody good too - never knew what make it was, just that it was a big (28 inch?) screen with no speakers. Pure 4:3 CRT fullscreen NTSC goodness, especially when sitting on the sofa that was only a couple of feet away!
