Any opinions on this? I enjoyed the lonely exploration and architecture of the original*, but lost interest as each game has got "more action" (IE: Stupid 'oh wow it's just like a movie' efforts).
This game seems to be getting really good reviews. Is it actually good? Much like the original?
* This may just be the nostalgia of it being one of the first platformers with a proper 3D world.

This one is Uncharted but more boobs, blood, quicktime events and a bow. Luckily the cover mechanism isn´t quite as in your face gears of warish though. It´s more subtle and Lara sort of automatically gently goes crouching when near a chest high wall but she isn´t glued to it. You can just move further away from the wall and she stands right up.
It has mild sandbox elements and a bit of metroidvaniaish "look, theres a place where you cant go yet! You need equipment x to go there.". Climbing is good, puzzles are ok but a bit on the easy side, combat is easy even on hard difficulty. Story is okay but it´s no walking dead.
It deserves more than the 8.5ish scores that it seems to be getting. It´s a worthy reboot to the series but it doesn´t quite catch the sense of wonder that the original had. Still, it´s the only other game in the franchise that is worth a damn.

I've played a couple of hours and it's very good. In answer to pubjoe's question, no, it's an Uncharted rip off, but a very good one. Cinematic, engrossing and exciting with plenty of atmosphere. Nice soundtrack too.
Been playing this the past few days. Probably the best next gen Tomb Raider. More action orientated, but you can go back to levels and search for treasure at your leisure. The bow is probably my favourite weapon and it does have some stunning graphics and elemental effects.
Yeah, all the scripted stuff definitely makes it a one time deal, not looking to finish this for second time ever so... start it on hard difficulty when you do
I'm not a big fan of a lot of modern 3d games and how they attempt to replicate Hollywood style cut scenes and stories, but (so far at least) Tomb Raider does a sterling job at recreating exciting film style action. The first 15 minutes of gameplay had me on the edge of my seat. A great balance of reactions, dexterity with just a little bit of hand-holding.
Yep. Sold on this one. Maybe modern games aren't that bad after all
Yes some of the graphics are but the bow is way too overpowered, which makes the other weapons pretty much redundant, Apart from opening barriers of course.
"Yeah lets all get ponys instead, wait no lol trendy cabs" Err I think you meant Ponies didn't you ?
