All pretty much gushing. Been grabbing the odd few minutes throughout the day, I'm inclined to agree. I think Mario moves in the most responsive and natural manner he's ever done. The animation on everything is astonishingly good and it's simply a joy to play.

10/10 from me.

Like a TripAdvisor review, I'm knocking one point off for every day mine is late. That'll teach Tesco :problem:

Played through the tutorial bit and first world. All good. Most fun I had so far was walking in a circle. So Nintendo.

cools wrote:The only bit I'm disappointed with - handheld mode means you can't perform certain attacks as they are motion controlled. Hasn't felt limiting so far but definitely makes it a bit harder to play.

They work in handheld but treating the Switch as a frisbee isn't on the cards.
I had wondered if this would be an issue. Hopefully it doesn't detract too much from the game as I intend to play a lot of it in handheld mode.

I was hoping I might receive my console and game early but it looks like it's on track for delivery tomorrow. They'll be no one in though so I just hope it's left with a neighbour or somewhere.

I did receive a carry/storage case for my SNES Mini today however. :awe:

Its not bothersome at all, they are literally extra moves that generally make combat slightly easier to pull off. I've found you can actually just give the console a gentle nudge to activate them too, its super sensitive. Couple of spots so far where you actually need motion controls and the gestures required have been no trouble. One of those things where first impressions don't count.
You can capture tanks that shoot shells that explode into coloured streamers!

Awesome. Mind eased. Thanks.

I'm really been looking forward to the Switch alongside Mario. I think it's because the first time I can remember pre-ordering a console and having to wait for a release date.

Pretty sure you'll love it. Last Nintendo console I preordered was a Japanese Gameboy Advance, which was a bit of a let down due to the screen. Got plenty of mileage out of it though.

The Switch reminds me of the NeoGeo Pocket in a lot of ways. Underpowered compared to everything else, portable, and with a constant feed of quality first party titles.

I'm finding I'm playing stuff where it's easy to pick up and put down again far more frequently than the session games. Mario + Rabbids is superb but needs focus for the duration of each battle, haven't got very far. BOTW can be done in tiny portions without needing to remember what you were doing every time you begin - cleared it.

Put about 4 hours into this today, truly wonderful!

It’s the first time I’ve ever played on a switch and decided to play it with the joycons in the joystick holder thingy.

I think I’ve collected about 50 power moons so far.

My friend code is SW-5692-8343-8412 if anybody wants to add me.

Its perfectly playable in tiny chunks.

I like it a lot so far, just don't quite love it. I think it's the massive kingdoms. SM64 was so concise and had a hub world that's yet to be bettered. Also the camera gets on my tits a bit.

I was never all that bothered with SM64 or Zelda back in the N64 days. F-Zero X however hasn't yet been beaten, and it's the one IP there's been no hint of an announcement about.

Zelda on the N64 is **** poor. I liked Mario 64, but SM3DW was much better imo.

The GameCube F zero GX was good. Nothing on DS, Wii, 3DS or WiiU. F Zero needs to be resurrected

So far, I love Odyssey.

Mario's even more acrobatic than ever yet the overwhelming control list is still condensed into natural feeling combinations of a few primary buttons. That's the same first impression Mario64 gave. So far so good.

To me there's no higher praise than 'better than Mario 64'. I've returned to it so much over the years and it still brings me and my kids unmatched joy. It might not be as flawless or focussed as the likes of 3D World but the combination of all it's achievements is incredible. It's the 3D platformer that Aliens gifted us to try for decades to learn from.
