Think I'd rather get an FM Towns Marty with £400.

Re: Wii U
I'm kinda keen. The wii gets a fair bit of use (10 year old son) and is falling apart so could do with replacing. My Son isn't banging on about it though so I might wait and see if there's a price drop after Christmas.
Nintendo say they're selling this at a loss which is something Nintendo rarely do, even with the wii which was a pretty cheap launch price (and was selling for mental money on ebay). The wii-U does seem a bit pricey though, especially as the shops have hiked it up by £50. I know pre-orders are selling out quick in the run up to christmas, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere near the level of excitement that there was for the wii. The DS, and 3DS both seemed a bit pricey at launch and were followed by a quick price drop. I wonder if this will do the same after Christmas.

Re: Wii U
Oh **** off Nintendo.• Captain Falcon's Twister Race: In this single-player Attraction based on the F-Zero racing franchise, players get a top-down view of the track on the GamePad, which is held vertically and turned to steer the vehicle through a winding, twisting track, as they try to hit checkpoints before time runs out. Driving across dash plates can provide a quick burst of speed, while obstacles like speed spikes, whirlwinds, other vehicles and even bombs can make for a dangerous run.

Re: Wii U
The Wii U is supposed to be 20% LESS powerful than the next generation of XBOX. Not a problem though when the next gen XBOX is supposed to be 6 x more powerful than the current 360! We'll see.
IMO they just need to crank the internal resolution up. The initial launch games all have an internal resolution of 720p, so I'm quite looking forward to how beautiful Tekken Tag and COD should look (in comparison to the current gen!). It will be interesting to see if it can handle a solid internal resolution of 1080p on games in the future - it should certainly be capable from a technical perspective, but there must be a reason why the launch games are not 1080p, so perhaps the gfx is quite old (no one actually knows which AMD series it is yet). The current 720p cap may have been because of the maximum resolution available on the controller screen - who knows.
This might well make Sony and MS sweat a tad especially getting at least a 12 month head start. The key problem imo is whether the software houses, for multi-platform games, take advantage of the extra grunt the Wii U has over the existing gen.
