Re: OUYA
If they get the content, they should be okay.
However, it's advertised as fully hackable. Good luck trying to enforce copyright on that machine, meaning : no support from big game companies.
Bitchin' emulators coming up on this ! I'll wait for homebrew to develop on this before buying one.

Re: OUYA
O.K. idea that would be good if they actually said that the hardware spec was any good and what was giood about it. Just a console that's open doesn't say anything really. I mean a PC is open, why wouldn't you just make a PC game instead? I know the advantage of developing for console (it's a fixed platform), but with no tech specs or demonstration of capabilities, what is it? Why have they made a controller with no specs for the console it's supposedly for? People really buy a console based on the controller?

But for the stupid, here's a cut and paste job from the Kickstarter page linked in the opening post:
Specifications:
Tegra3 quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB of internal flash storage
HDMI connection to the TV, with support for up to 1080p HD
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth LE 4.0
USB 2.0 (one)
Wireless controller with standard controls (two analog sticks, d-pad, eight action buttons, a system button), a touchpad
Android 4.0

Re: OUYA
Well, sorry, but I thought the whole point in a promotional video was you didn't need to go and read a load of stuff.
Anyway, looking at those specs, it's basically a tablet PC that's made to connect to the TV and have seperate controllers. No 3D graphics acceleraton ... (unless the Tegra3 CPU has that on-chip maybe...)

No. Sorry. The point of writing stuff is so you can read it. Your ignorance/inability to read is no excuse.
The Tegra3 does have some 3D acceleration, but it's not the best in the world. But it should be more than enough to develop 3D games on this device.

Re: OUYA
exactly the reason i did get on board.pubjoe wrote:So these have started shipping. Anyone get one?
I kinda wish I'd got on board. At $100 it'd make a great 1080p XBMC box if nothing else.
i was supposed to get it in april, no sign of it yet and not one mail from them since i paid for it way back when.

Re: OUYA
It has a lot of potential, I think it will open a lot of possibilities for indie developers reaching out to the market.
Although the fact that they announced the console will have year-by-year releases seems a bit too much, I still like the concept they offer and whole "hacker friendly" policy they are proclaiming.

Re: OUYA
Small & tidy. It's still $120 delivered through the kick starter (to the UK). If they mark the value down, or ship from EU it will be a fair bit cheaper.
