Vewlix F - Cabinet Pictures

Post by _xizor »

After seeing the Vewlix L pics over at Neo-Arcadia.com I thought I'd put together some pics of the Vewlix F.
The one thing I couldn't a camera in close enough to read is the monitor sticker. Vewlix F is a Sanwa, Model T32H075(KA).
If you want to see anything specific, just PM me.

Prices:
Vewlix F=498,000
Vewlix L=360.000

I think you mixed something up. The PS on the bottom on the left side is a JVS-PS, but also can power Jamma via the Jamma Kit.

I´m not sure what the PS on the bottom right is called, but I think it´s for the general stuff like the sound, the LEDs for the marquee, the JVS-PCB in the CP and so on.

Therefore, the Vewlix L has no PS for the games.

JAMMA games look really good.
If you like the scan lines it isn't the same.... CPS3 or CPS2 looks good, but a little blocky. (Scan lines hide that a lot)
I have a commercial 15k to 31k unit I use that adds scan lines in...

I've played:
CPS3 - Street Fighter III (1 Gen, 2nd Imp, 3rd Strike)
CPS2 - MvC, MvX, CvX
Jammaboards 1069-in-1

With Video through JAMMA (Look a lot better direct...)
Namco 246 - Gundam, Soul Caliber 2, Soul Caliber 3, Tekken 4
Namco 256 - DBZ, Tekken 5 DR

i am still deciding whether i like these cabs or not, they are growing on me thats for sure and tbh its like when the naomi first came out
i think if we could see a few more of these cabs in arcades and some new great games released then i think they will be as popular as the naomi uni
the tech side of things look real good,a techs dream tbh :geek:

I have the Vewlix Jamma-Kit, and I think the picture looks great. But I´m definitely not the one to ask, because I love it when the picture is very stable, and I can definitely live with blocky graphics. For example, I prefer SFZ3U on the Naomi GD on 31kHz to the CPS2 original on 15kHz. And I have no problems with low-res sprites on hi-res backgrounds. :awe:

That said, I think the Jamma-Kit is a nice thing to have, but it´s some work to change between Jamma and, for example, the Type-X2. I still have my AWSD, and I don´t know if I will ever really use the Vewlix for Jamma.

Why, because it´s, so to speak, "the new generation", or because the Vewlix is very tidy structured and everything is easy to reach? :geek:

I've had some reservations about these but I just recently purchased a 24" LCD monitor which has done wonders to ease my fears about low-res games looking horrible...they really don't. With scan-lines added in I can't imagine there being much difference at all. That only leaves the problem of aspect ratio.

I would be really interested to see shots of JAMMA games running.

The look of JAMMA games can range from *teh sux* to *certified sweet*
These are pics in a Vewlix-F with the stock Taito JAMMA Kit w/VGA Scaler

Two examples:
*teh sux*
Super Puzzle Bobble - GNet Motherboard
SPB.jpg
*certified sweet*
Soul Caliber III - Namco 246 via the JAMMA I/O

You can leave the aspect ratio default and have some dead space on either side of the image.... looks fine.

Btw: Screw plain old JAMMA, I hooked up the other DVI port in the back of the monitor, got a really big VGA extension cable and have a painless mame box now.
All I had to do was buy a JVS-PAC & Vga cable and I was away to the races. All of the games look sweet... and I didn't have to screw with anything in the cab.

That's good to hear. I'm sure some people will consider it sacrilege but I can tell you with 100% certainty...if I had that setup right now I would grinning from ear-to-ear. :awe:

Would you mind posting some pics of the mame setup working on the vewlix. Is it a matter of just using a switch to change betwwen the mame setup and the taito type x2. How have you connected the controls for the mame setup. I assume the mame setup produces scanlines.

HDMI switches work perfectly with the Vewlix.

i tested:
Gefen 4x1
Spatz-Tech 4x2 *

*one HDMI out to the Vewlix , the other to a 46" LCD TV.
so you can basicly use this for 2 Vewlix Cabs with 1 Type-X² in VS Mode aswell.

Is that on a Vewlix F. I would be interested to see what they would look like with scanlines.
