My Arcade & Games Room (Building it from ground up)

Post by dingsbums »

We finally cleaned out our basement (forgot to take a picture as it was filled with junk but believe me it was jammed with stuff :awe: - we discarded 2 FULL containers with junk).
One room is unused now so I decided to make the Arcade/Games Room of my dreams 8-) .

So this is what I have to beginn with:
Image

It's an ugly, empty basement room :awe: .

As I said I want to make a room I like. The first thing I will do is a picture on one wall.
The picture will be this:
Image

So the first thing I did was cleaning the wall :awe: - this was the result :awe: (yes that's just from ONE wall):
Image

Have I mentioned it yet ??? - I don't want this R-Type picture done with paint I will do it (try it :D ) with ironing beads glued to the wall. So my next step was making ROUGH measurements on
the wall - result:
Image

I calculated that I will need roughly 350000 ironing beads for that one wall :palm: :palm: :palm: . The first batch with 100000 is ordered :awe: .
I will post here whenever I have the free time (and desire) to do something in that room - hopefully in the year 202X the room is finished :hoover: .

Crazy indeed! But awesome crazy! :D

What are your plans for the image? You can scale the pixels in a way so that rather than using one bead for one pixel you can do a 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 etc block of beads to represent a pixel.

I'll be looking forward to seeing how you get on with this plus the whole game room too :)

This site just makes it far to easy for us crazies to congregate, then we pretty much try to one up each other.

****. Me. This is gonna be the Sistene Chapel of game-rooms! Over a third-million beads... (Godspeed, you crazy diamond. ;-) Would it be possible to make some kinda stop-frame video of progress, from blank wall to finished artwork? THAT would be some hella vid!)

If it was me I wouldn't Iron em at all, I'd do something like mount those interlocking pegboards on the wall and glue the beads to the pegboards, or find a similar solution

This is going to be truly awesome.

Have you planned all of your colours? I have a palette of 48 colours from 3 different bead makers and i still want more variations, grey is the bugger for sure.

Here is the R-Type ship which i knocked up a few months ago :awe:
