Inside of a Namco System 256 PCB

Post by subbie »

I really haven't seen pictures of the inside of a 256 on the net so I though I would post these here (took them yesterday). I will submit them over to system16.com soon.

Minor side note, I do not have the extra card that some 256 units have (it plugs into the left side of the PCB and would give 3 plugs on the outside of the case), I personally have zero clue what it's for. :problem:

Hm, subbie, any chance you can slap the daughter board on a scanner and get some quality pictures?

I'm starting to see why 256 games can't be used on 246...
That sucker's got some pretty intense integrated hardware, while, as I've said about the 246 architecture, it's more or less a stock PS2 converted into a cartridge emulating system by way of the ram-buffered cd/hd interface...

Offhand, I recognize about half of the parts from a 246 slapped onto the board, but I'm thinking a decent (although somewhat simplistic) block diagram should be able to be made off each system's general appearance...

Which board do you want the scan of, the network or controller card?
