Definitely nice fix to all that rot!
WD-40 :wtf: ...wouldn't have thought to use that for the tough stuff. Are you planning on keeping that filter cap on the 12v line, or replacing it with a higher farat eventually?

You should post this over at the shmups forum, they've got a hardware Repair thread going, and this would be a good addition to it.

Yes, I don't think that it'll pose a problem with the 470uF cap, as it's just for smoothing the 12V rail...not filter.

I already posted a link to my blog at that thread months ago, and there don't seem to be a tradition to post over there every time you make a new rep. Don't want to be marked as a flooder };-P
