Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
Hiya!
I've been meaning to ask this some time ago but first I wanted to recap the chassis some more. All electrolytics are replaced with Nichicon/Sanyo caps from rs-components and the big input capacitor is a new Nichicon one that is rated to last 10k hrs@105 degrees. Colors are nice and vibrant, geometry is fine. My issue is that the whole screen micro-pulsates , meaning it enlarges/reduces it's size maybe 1pixel constantly and it's irrelevant to bright stuff happening on the screen. I hope the description is good enough
I also tried cleaning the geometry/size pots with electronics cleaning spray , no change. Tried to capture the effect on video, here it is:
Any idea on what to try next?

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
since noone replied I have to wonder if my video is any good... I have seen the monitor live so it makes sense to me but maybe not to others? Or is it a case noone can recommend anything because this is uncommon?

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
I have a new phone now and could capture a better video, hopefully these two will make the issue apparent. I know they are close-ups but it was the only way I could have the phone steady in order to capture this behavior:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/i1d0nxnu8 ... 57_Pro.mp4
http://www.mediafire.com/file/8a85d0p95 ... 04_Pro.mp4
otherwise the picture is OK... it almost looks like some interference - there is a general power input filter, the cab is getting powered from an APC protection/filtering strip, ground is connected everywhere it can ... Could it be the old poly caps?

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
what? weird it's from my mediafire account - nothing unsafe about it I uploaded it there so there won't be any degradation/processing from youtube.
Here are tinyupload links then

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
As always you are correct: I disconnected it and all is rock-solid now
So what am I looking at now? a leaking/dagraded posistor ?
Grantspain you need to change your name to Grantpolo

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
It looks like zooming in and out, right? Reminds me a little of my Toshiba PF and the horizontal highfrequential microjitter. But the root of your problem and mine is different I think.
@Grant: What does the degaussing coil have to do with it?

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
the ptc is leaky, very common on hantarex chassis
Toshiba chassis zooming in/out-if entire picture then it sounds like flyback or unstable b+

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating

Sorry for the long questions again but your input is more than valuable as this thing bothered me for many months now

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
No, the Toshiba ist shifting from left to right and back in a high frequency. Just a very little distance. Is IT possible to get a new flyback for the Toshiba?grantspain wrote:the ptc is leaky, very common on hantarex chassis

Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
that's not flyback, that is a fault in the horizontal shift circuitShadolf wrote:No, the Toshiba ist shifting from left to right and back in a high frequency. Just a very little distance. Re: Hanterex POLO 28" micro-pulsating
Just in case anyone else wants to get a PTC 96009 replacement, keep in mind that part number has been replaced with the 96209 part:
so in reality one needs a 2322.662.96209 part (or PTC 96209 or 662.96209 judging from the various sources descriptions)
The same PTC is used with the POLO2 15/25 chassis btw .
