KW0606 quality and options

Post by zumbito »

Have been offered this chasis, and not sure what to do. I have read in the Wiki it from a Sanwa PFX monitor, but this chassis is from a Chinese tube. Can it be used with any other tubes? How's Sanwa PFX image quality?

NNC's occasionally came with them and I've been told they are second to Toshiba PF's only. Dunno if it's true tho, never seen one in person.

Tis true.
The are the seconde grails of lord PFX.

Only problem is getting tubes for them.
They came in late generation cabs like Ford racing and race tv, some nnc. Usually a lot of burn.

I think I posted all three tube types on the wiki.
I spent considerable time trying to find a tube.

As a single focus trisync, these have a great 15k but at 31k you can notice the outside 85% of the screen 'edges' can sometimes be a tiny bit fuzzy. I notice this more on the matsushita tube than the chungwa. I'm pretty anal though.

What about using them with TV tubes? there is very little info on tube swapping, I am trying to read more about it, cause I have the idea it is a very complex thing to do.

I tried for quite some time to get a compatible pure flat TV tube.

My closest was a Philips tube but this was dual focus, and auto converging/purity ring adjusting (forgot the name for it, it was completely digital tube.)
I could convert the tube to single focus, and sort out the digital converging with some add-on but it was not worth all the work..

You can read more here.

In the end i managed to luck out and get a tube with light burn in a trade.

If you go tube hunting, you'll need a LCR meter. Should be a 0.300 mH single focus pure flat tube.

Thanks! For some reason there is no much info about tube swapping.
