Tube swapping, what is 'acceptable margins' for a yoke?

Post by Asure »

So, i have dug into tube & yoke swapping for a while now.

Not much 'exact' factual details are available, and some things remain vague for me. One example, what is the acceptable deviation in mH for yokes.
I have a 'worst case' combo running. PM1745 Tube on MS9 chassis. The MS9 comes with a 0.300mH tube. The Orion tube from the PM1745 has a 0.395mH reading.
From comparing chassis details and info, MS8 / MS9 have factory tubes around 0.300 - 0.350
The PM1745 combo works, but the chassis is running say, +50 or, +100 mH yoke now..

So i wonder, what is acceptable? What are the limits, what are the margins? Worst case i am looking at 0.300 + 0.100 mH (33% increase?)
Should i dig into the transistor spec sheets to get an exact answer?
