Nanao 2931 to 2930 chassis swap

Post by doop9174 »

I have a Nanao 2931 monitor with a currently non-working chassis. I'm planning on swapping that for a 2930 chassis I recently acquired. I was able to identify how most of the connections on the 2931 relate to the 2930, except for one. There is a small connector at CN904 on the 2931 that I believe is related to the degauss coil. Would anyone be able to tell me where that would plug in on the 2930 chassis? I see that there is a spot at CN704 on the 2930, but I haven't found any documentation that confirms that would be the place. It also looks like the connector needed there might be larger than the one at CN904 on the 2931.

Are there any other differences between the two chassis that I should be aware of before I do the swap?

Thanks

I just wanted to update this. I figured out where all the connections go and installed the 2930 chassis. However, it's not working just yet. When I power it up, there is a blue/purple glow in the neck of the tube for 1 or 2 seconds, along with a slight buzzing sound, but no image ever appears on the screen. After that one or two seconds, there is no buzzing or glow from the monitor or any indication that it is powered on. The game itself is playing blind. Would anyone be able to tell me what this might be a symptom of?

My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.

Thanks for all the replies. This isn't my video, but it's what I'm seeing with my tube:

I found it through this thread:

http://forum.killercabs.com/viewtopic.p ... a955f99eb4

It doesn't look like there was a resolution to that thread, but it seems like the OP moved onto other options. I think I've come to terms with the idea that this monitor is pretty much dead. I'm going to look into setting up an LCD temporarily while I keep my eye out for another 29in monitor. That way, I can at least still use the cabinet, even if it's not optimal.

Thanks for all the help.
