Aren't the Samsung panels from e.g. the GTT monitors also built in some normal Samsung consumer TVs?
If yes, then we can buy a cheap Samsung TV with that panel, swap it and then everything fits hopefully.

But to know that certain Samsung TV is the challenge :)

well, if you give me the Samsung parts No. of the Panel in the GTT Screen , i might be able to check if there is a consumer tv with that Panel.

For input lag reasons, I'd probably go with the 2011 model Panasonic Vieras with Alpha-IPS.
But they seem to be hard to find these days. I should have bought an extra.

Has anyone tried the 32" open frame monitor that is on Wells Gardner's website?

Ive been digging deep into the LCD-swamp for my Egret 3 HD cab and its not easy to find a good one for arcade-games. (Colors, input lag, viewing angle etc etc)
I found a perfect one for my project but that one is 27"...and doesnt seem to exist in 32"?

But the simplest answer would be: Email Taito tech and ask to buy a replacement? (Worked with CRTs.)
Would be interesting to hear what the price would be?

Isn't a replacement like 2.5K USD or something stupid?

Wow :wtf:

Then this hunt will be interesting as LCD-monitors have a lot of different metal frame-sizes and how they are attached to the cab/cover/surround.

I think a Vewlix cab has a VESA 200x100mm mount so either start there or get Vesa adapters that fit. Then try to find a low lag 32" LED/LCD that has the right measurements, then take the plunge and hope there is some way to make it fit.

I didnt know that, well VESA helps.
...though consumer LED/LCDs often have the VESA mount in the plastic cover.

This is relevant to my interests.

I will soon have a Vewlix cab in my possession and it does not have a monitor. I want a good monitor/tv in it, so I will be looking for this VESA compliant mount, however if anyone knows of a good and thin TV/Monitor, what specs to pay attention too, or any other information this would help me greatly!

So I'm in this boat right now.. I have a silver vewlix L (the chinese one) and the lcd screen is having problems.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 234035.jpg"

The lcd panel is a LTI320AP01. I tried to find one online with no luck. I did however find a very similiar/ and slightly better panel. the LTA320AP05 on ebay for 90$.

Figured I might as well give it a try. Will update here if it works.

UPDATE:

So the new panel worked but there was a small problem. The frame that goes around the LCD has screw holes that matched 3/4 sides of the new LTA320AP05. The screw holes on the top part of this display are different. I had to just leave the frame on it unfastened. It fits so tightly in the cabinet however that there's no way it can get lose or move at all.

The screen functions perfectly however, I just popped off the old LCD panel and used the same logic/power supply board of the old one.

Is it possible to show it? And maybe show the end result. :D

Sure, I took a few pictures along the way so I can share those :D

First by just opening the back of the vewlix you should be able to see your panel type on one of the stickers.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 001232.jpg"

In order to actually get the monitor out, you have to take off the side panels and unscrew it from the vesa mount.

It should look like this when its out

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 152138.jpg"

The black and white ribbons coming out of the bottom are connected to the area near the coin switch where you can control brightness/contrast etc. Those are actually pretty important I found out because the included remote will not function without them and you need to be able to either auto-calibrate or move the horiz/vert position of the image because when I first connected the new panel the image was off to the side a bit.

The multi-colored ribbon cable to the side is the power supply that connects to the LCD panel. This was already removed at the time I took the picture but there was this white blob adhesive all over it. I had to use a hair dryer to melt it off before I could remove the cable.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 153415.jpg"

On the top there is a delicate connector that connects the logic board to the lcd. You just squeeze the sides and it pops out.

So this box attached to the back of the lcd basically just houses the power supply and the logic board. In order to get it off so you can put it on a new LCD, you actually have to open it up. There are two screws inside that actually help mount it to the panel.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 141fe9.jpg"

here it is opened up. As always, be extremely careful near any opened power supply/capacitors. I'm no expert so not sure how long these take to discharge but I avoided going near them just to be safe. The two screws holding the box on are near the top of the panel.

If you look closely at some of the pictures, you can see the black metal frame surrounding the lcd. This has 3 parts, A large slab of glass, clamps that screw into the lcd panel to hold the glass in place, and a black outer frame that screws into those clamps. The problem I ran into was the top of the panel had slightly different screws and I was unable to screw on one of the 4 clamps.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 141fe9.jpg"

On the front of the panel you will see some foam tape protector lining the screen. I tried to find foam tape that had the same size/thickness but it ended up being too thick and the glass clamps were too high up to line up with the screws  . I ended up taking a hair dryer to the old foam tape to remove it and put it on the new panel instead.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 141fe9.jpg" First test boot, all pixels seem to be good.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 141fe9.jpg" Testing the vga input, everything is working right except that the image is off-centered (fixed with auto calibrate)

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/763 ... 141fe9.jpg" Back in its home! (sorry for the blur)

I plan to buy another of these panels as a backup in case this ever happens again. I'm also going to try unscrewing the metal front plate of the old lcd which has the correct screw structure and see if i cant just implant that onto the new panel.

So it seems that all these samsung panels are nearly identical if you find one in the same family range. LTI320AP0#, LTA320AP0#. I just compared specs on the web

http://www.panelook.com/LTI320AP01_SAMS ... 12052.html"

http://www.panelook.com/LTA320AP05_SAMS ... _7500.html"

Hope this helps someone in the future.

I'm not sure what the best solution is, however a commercial monitor would make sense so you don't need to mess around with the bezel of a TV/PC screen.

My Vewlix-L has a Sharp LK315T3LA57 TFT-LCD.

As mentioned start digging around for something that is a similar size, with better specs.

Has anybody replace one already? I was thinking on going for a cheap Chinese copy, but got to know that they come with VGA monitors, if I can't install a 1080 screen with HDMI, to plug a PS4 for SFV, I am not very interested in acquiring one.

This requires a bit of investigation.

- What Chinese model are you looking at?
- Are there manuals? Are the manuals in English?
- Are the mounting points and dimensions of the original monitor in the manual?
-- If not can you contact the manufacturer and ask?
- Have fun searching for a similar 1080p monitor with the right dimensions and mounting points
- Can you or do you need to take the bezel of the new 1080p monitor to get it to fit?
- Can you buy the same brand/size monitor that it comes with but 1080p and have it fitted by the manufacturer?

Let us know how you go!

Hahaha lots of questions!
- What Chinese model are you looking at? Just a Vewlix clone, didn't know there were models. I would assume there all come from the same factory, just different resellers.
- Are there manuals? Are the manuals in English? No manuals.
- Are the mounting points and dimensions of the original monitor in the manual? There is no manual, I just assume that if you are cloning a cab you will have the same mounting points.
-- If not can you contact the manufacturer and ask? Yup, I did, waiting for the answer.
- Have fun searching for a similar 1080p monitor with the right dimensions and mounting points. Well, I read Vewlix mount is VESA, not sure why clones would make it more difficult to replace the monitors. Don't think this manufacturers have the means to produce their own monitors so I would say they are following the standard, but will contact them.
- Can you or do you need to take the bezel of the new 1080p monitor to get it to fit? Full TV doesn't fit, of course will need to take the bezel out.
- Can you buy the same brand/size monitor that it comes with but 1080p and have it fitted by the manufacturer? Yes, there is an option at extra cost (haven't been able to tell me yet). Thing is I have the option to buy without monitor for half the price, so I think its a better option given the standard one just has VGA and 720p...
