Removing Monitor Scratches with Novus / Car Buffer

Post by cRacKh0rN »

Having searched this forum, I see that people have had good results with removing monitor scratches with an orbital sander w.car buffer and Novus 3.

Maybe due to my little lad (or perhaps a drunken fool ) , my MS9 has some noticeable scratches that are thankfully not that deep, however I think they have gone through the anti-reflective coating as they are noticeable on some games (the colour in this area is altered).

Having never attempted this before, I was hoping for a bit of insight into the best way of doing this. The last thing I want to do is make matters worse :D

Here are a few questions I have:-

1. Is Novus 3 the best one for the job? I note that it is the most abrasive. Would Novus 2 be better advised for scratches not so deep? (I don't feel them with my nail)

2. Should I be using a sander at all?

3. Can someone point me in the direction of a good car buffer for the job?

4. Is there an indication when the anti reflective coating has been removed and will I scratch the glass if I go beyond this?

5. What is the best technique to use (slow in circles / hard as hell etc :awe: )

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks mate. I had found a few but the top 1 is great.
It looks like it may be ok to do it in the machine as long as you take the bezel off and cover everything well.
Slightly dubious given what the thread says about monitor cracking but I am sure I will pluck up the courage soon enough :D
