Rancor bought a mint kit on yahoo for USD2800 last year.

Re: You've Got Grail!?? AKA The Valuation Thread
That's a bit misleading. According to the story he posted there a bidder on his proxy service bid that high (way too high), decided he didn't want to pay that, and instead of trying to back out of the sale with the Japanese seller rancor decided to just pay it and keep it. That's a rather strange and unique situation and not something that is very useful for valuation.geosnow wrote: https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.p ... a#p1275088

Re: You've Got Grail!?? AKA The Valuation Thread
I might agree with you but the bare PCB has taken a dive recently. You can find one for $600-$650 without much trouble if you hunt on YAJ for a month or two (it's the cheapest SH3 PCB around now). I think a kit might sell for $1500 (so, $800-$900 for the box/art/inst -- remember, his box is not mint), but more than that and I'm skeptical. A reverse auction starting at $2000 would be a good way to arrive at a realistic price.

Re: You've Got Grail!?? AKA The Valuation Thread
CAVE pricing is all over the place these days. The seller can charge what they want and the buyer can decide if that's too high. Take a look at SDOJ kits - 2 unsold and dropping in price quite a bit.
Set a target price in your head, offer that and see how it goes. I think you've been doing well with this method so far. Posting in valuation threads isn't like it was back in the day. You'll rarely find a link to back up the speculative price, which fuels potential sellers' expectations. They'll either sell it for the "ridiculous" price (to someone who desperately wants it) or hoard it away for another 5 years when they can get that figure.
rancor's kit - if it's the 2 dot version, then I'd say someone might be willing to pay close to that. It isn't a 2 dot version though and J.J's bid is essentially a shill which rancor had to pay for.
Also, a Ketsui suction cup is still rarer than most of these PCBs

Most Cave pcbs has taken a dive.
For ex not so long ago DFK 1.5 went for crazy money, now they are dropping. One has been on Surugaya a long time.

What’s a 2 dot mushihimesama pcb worth? I won’t say how much I sold my 2 dot kit for (years ago)

(Ah, after some looking around) it literally is just a suction cup, jeez.
Reminds me actually, years ago I picked up some trinkets that were mean't to be related to CAVE merch, just a couple of things but I was never sure if they actually were CAVE related. I will try to find them.

Re: You've Got Grail!?? AKA The Valuation Thread
OK found them, I have some kind of skeleton thing, that you pull on a cord and the jaw opens and shuts.
I also have a wierd key ring that has a polariser built in, so you see black then the name of a game.
Seems that you can open the bottom to slide out the name, but I can't seem to open the case - as even though it is still working i would like to change the battery.

I think that skeleton was given away at a show as a promo for one of their medal games. I doubt it has value since it's not associated with a shooter.

I think Spork's right.
They gave loads of things away at AOU/JAMMA shows. I have a cupboard full of this crap. I just had a look for the first time in years. I've got 3 of those skeletons The other thing was a DFK promo. Mine's still blinking too!
I also found two Pink Sweets rings if anyone wants to get married

Not sure if the DFK pendant is worth anything. Merchandise doesn't seem to be that desirable, just the cardboard.
