Monitor chassis sparking

Post by FrancoB »

I don't know, I get rid of one problem and I get another.

I hard a clicking sound coming from one of my Naomi monitors. After looking at the chassis I can see a spark similar to that of a piezo igntion lighter arcing where the blue line is on the attatched picture.

Any ideas? :eh:

Cheers chap.

Is there much to changing one? The tube has a fair bit of burn so I'm not sure if its worth fixing.

its an easy job but it whether you can get one and how much it is
if the crt is badly burnt then consider a second hand monitor on ebay or from craig
actually come to think of it Craig mentioned he had a new wg d9200 at a very sexy price

Cheers Grant.

I do actually have a couple of spares and this is worst of the three. I am struggling for a space a little so it may be a blessing in disguise to get shot.

Is is worth hanging onto anything from the monitor? I guess I could keep the frame and the chassis in the hope of fixing the chassis at some point and dump the tube.

Then again it seems a shame to dump a tube which is fine apart from the burn. Maybe I'll offer it up in the Free thread.

Thanks too DS :)

the anode of crt can but most modern crt monitors have a discharge circuit-always advisable to discharge the crt anyway when removing the chassis or replacing the flyback, better safe than sticking your hand through the neck
