Blast City - sound problems

Post by Yamazaki »

Update to my Blast City.

I took off the PSU today and cleaned it thoroughly.

the results:

the ventilator runs more smooth buuuuuuuuuuut

no sound on the right speaker and very low and cracking noise on the left speaker :(

I guess either it has something to do with me cleaning the PSU OR it was bound to happen because of something faulty within the speakers.

interesting is though that the sound volume control on the panel works again....lol

any ideas?

Thats quite strange maybe its a strange coincidence? Are you able to check any kind of voltage/signal going into the volume pot or measuring a resistance change on the volume pot when turning it, maybe it kicked the bucket?

Best of luck

I am also suspecting a coincidence.

I will disassemble the Blast City this weekend in order to clean the insides - so hopefully I will figure out then what the reason is.

Maybe some loose connection etc.

Verify that your cables for the speakers are not nicked anywhere or have gotten pulled out somewhere either on the speaker terminals or where they lead into the volume control area.

It sounds like a damaged cable/lead or a short

Maybe something was knocked loose while doing the work earlier.

It's more than likely a contact issue. The slideout PSU is a dumb design. I had a Blast that had poor sound, the issue was in the large connector that connects the harness between the PSU. Cleaning it thoroughly solved my problem.

I would also check the pot. You could jump the pot to rule it out. Sound would be at full blast, so double check the volume on the PCB ;)

It's also possible that your amp has gone out. Unlikely, but possible.

Was it just dirty contacts?
