Blurriness Sega Blast City

Post by Yamazaki »

Just saw that the "PLAY" font are redish and blurry compared to the "FREE"

is that because of wrong image ratio that I set up?

or does it have something to do with the monitor itself?

Your color convergence is off.

To tell the truth, convergence is something I'd not try to adjust if you're not experienced. I don't know what kind of monitor you have but traditionally the tube convergence is adjusted by rotating ring magnets on the CRT neck: when you adjust one, it affects how other magnets affect the image, so getting a good convergence is a skill - if you just tweak the magnets a bit, you'll probably end up with a worse image than you started with.

Any experienced tv repairman is (hopefully still) able to tweak the convergence for a low price. When I bought my current house and one of my cabinets was hauled to the 2nd floor, the convergence magnets in the cab were off - after a quick visit by a tv repairman everything was back to perfect. That was around 4 years ago. Hopefully all the guys with CRT knowledge have not retired yet...

thanks for the reply - I'll see wether I can find someone experienced here in Germany.

else I'll stick with the image quality I have right now - it's not terrible but not terrific either.

also got a small "curving" on the left side of the monitor screen.

You've got the same issue most of us Blast Owners have. corner convergence issues. A fix that doesnt involve messing with something that can really send your pic out of whack is using convergence stips.. like this vid demonstraits...

Fixing the corner convergence was super easy in my case, maybe 5 minutes tops.
