Astrocity, hookup a Playstation 2?
Hi guys. I bought myself an astro city candy cab and now I'm wondering whats the best way to hookup my playstation 2, videowise.
I already did some reading and found the following circuit on the shmups forum
(http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... 5&start=30)
So far so good, I would have all the components at home and it would be rather easy to build this.
The thing is,I don't know at the moment if I have a Nanao MS8 or MS9 in my Astro and if theres a difference when it comes to rgb input voltage levels.
Basically the RGB Scart of my Playstation 2 would have 0.75v and the Arcade Monitor would need 4v.
So I assume I would get a really weak and dim picture by connecting the ps2 directly by using the above circuit
When connecting directly (by means of cutting of the rgb scart connector and use the wires directly) should I do it with the caps and resistors in the lines or without. (I guess the Scart Cable already has some capacitors inbuilt in the connector)
Or would the best thing if I buy the video amplifier from ultimarc, use an rgb cable, cut off the scart connector and directly wire the lines to the amplifier.
Thank you

Best solution (because I suck at building clean circuits amongst other things ) is to get a viletim scart to Jamma adapter...
Or stick with boards until you do. Arcade karma will thank you for it.

Annoying thing about the PS2 is not all games are 240p . Most are **** 480i

The Last Bandit's adapter is great, I've run PCE, Saturn, PS1, PS2 and X360 on my cabs.
The X360 is a real pain to set up, but it's possible.

Re: Astrocity, hookup a Playstation 2?
Thanks for the answers
The adapters posted look really nice, but since I am planning to order a jpac, so that I can also hookup my mame pc, the video amplifier would be the least expensive solution for me (if it is working the way I hope it would work, and it would also save me from building that ultra circuit from here http://members.optusnet.com.au/eviltim/ ... .htm#acvid ^^)
I already built a sync seperator circut, have an rgb cable where I can remove the head, and two psx digital pads ready for padhacking.
So the only thing thats left to find out if the video amplifier would give me a clean image if I remove all the caps and resistors of the rgb cable before going into the amp, and if there are some issues with AC/DC decoupling or so!? Still have to do some research about that subject
@trev1976, you can solve that issue partly by hex-patching games to 240p

Yeah I was reading about that but it seems you can't get rid of the filtering most games have.
I'm really interested in playing some atomiswave games on PS2 but I'm unsure how well they will look on my Aero

viletim boards are no longer made, but it comes up for sale second hand now and then...
Last bandits adapter would probably be the best to go if you looking for a new adapter. I stashed 4-5 of tims' adapters but hardly use them since moving on to collecting boards
