Cab with 16:9 CRT?

Post by Shadolf »

I just wondered, if there was any cab released with a 16:9 CRT in it?!
I mean there are so many dedicated racing cabs etc. that I don´t know of and it doesn´t seem to be impossible to me.

Ok, I see :eh: .
This only makes sense with 16:9 games, so I thought more of a dedicated cab.

Now you mention it I'm surprised there wasn't lots. Widescreen had a difficult time establishing itself - stuck in that rut of not enough customers/not enough content for over a decade. You'd have thought dedicated arcade cabinets were a perfect match during that time.

Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact had a widescreen mode. Was it 16:9?

Would be neat to see that in a widescreen cab.

It's actually comparably light as it is rear projection.

I'm 39 next month :problem:

I member the days when TVs were square (ish) and curves went out at the middle, not at the ends.

It's a rear projection CRT. Less glass, so lighter than conventional CRT. Still pretty heavy though, but not nearly as heavy as a direct view CRT of that size.

Been off and on in industry for many years, and been through a hundred games personally.....NEVER seen a 16:9 CRT arcade of any kind in the states.
Not saying it didn't happen somewhere, cause I know I ain't seen everything....but I can't think of anything even close over here.

Jeutel (France) 16:9

I played on it, it was not horrible in my memory but I would not spend money in this.

Some parts of that cab look similar to the cab above. Seems to be the same manufacturer.
