Applying CP Overlay
Hi
Im going to be applying a overlay to a astro CP soon, it's all cleaned and ready to go but I'm a little nervous about applying it and was wondering if the dry or wet application is recommended?

Obviously I want this to turn out perfect
Any help would be most appreciated

Re: Applying CP Overlay
When I do mine I like to go in dry
I peg mine to the CP and make sure everything is perfectly aligned. I then remove the pegs from one side of the CP, lift the CPO up on one half, carefully cut the backing down the centre of the CPO and then gradually peel back the CPO from the centre outwards and use a soft cloth to stick the CPO down from the other side. The cloth helps to work out any potential bubbles as you go along. Once one side is stuck you can remove the backing from the other side of the CPO, using the same method and working from the centre outwards.

Re: Applying CP Overlay
Something like either of these might work well to secure the CPO in place while you take the "one half first, then the other half" approach.

I've contemplated this, as two of my wood CP's are desperately in need of some new life, but haven't taken the plunge yet. Would love to see some pictures of the completed overlay application.

Re: Applying CP Overlay
Ok thanks for the tips.. I've seen masking tape used as well. I think I'll go in dry too, sod the foreplay
Is it clothes pegs you use ? Just worried about scratching the overlay.
Thanks

Re: Applying CP Overlay
I was a bit worried about damaging the overlay too so I used some soft grip ones like [these].
I don't seem to have a photo of the applied overlay. I'll see if I can get though. It applied pretty much perfectly and I'm fairly anal about these things

Re: Applying CP Overlay
I do the half and half method but I fit butons in the holes on one side to keep the overlay aligned

When the missus does the shopping I'll ask her to pick up some of the soft grip pegs.
