Hows the quality of this machines, compared to a Japanese candy in terms of built and image quality?
Did you took the side arts out and then reapply them? How?

The generell quality of the cab is good, its solid. The paint or plastic was an cheap one, thats why all babys are grey/yellow now (just like the speakers from the astros).
The original Buttons (Sanwas) are ok, the Joysticks got an strange adapter. You must switch it to use japanese ones.
I think the qualitiy/engineering is just a little bit less then the original Japanese ones.

The original Pentranic/orion Tubes are ok, but behind the nanao (Sega,Egret). The Weiya Chassis is **** (very cheap).
Thats why i throw away my tube, dont want to repair this chassis. Now the picture is very nice.
I think thats the weak point from the ok babys.

Yes, the side arts was not more tight, i just strip it of.
After the painting i add some double-sided adhesive tape and it fits.

I see, so basically, you need a new monitor/ tv for it. I heard TV chasis on such a short distance weren't that good. Can you tell the difference from the Nanao?

I'm also interested in the differences, if there are any.

Hi!! I'm from Argentina and I have one of these too. I bought it without the original side decals and cpo.
Does anyone have the files (vectorial, good scan or something) so i can send it to print?

It's so weird it is impossible to find assets from this machine!
Thank you so much!

Yes. For the Chassis i consider two possibilities:
Take a metal plate in cartons (for electromagnetic shielding) or
Cut of the chassis holder and rebuild it (the better way i think).

I dont had a Nanao Tube, so i dont can say the real differences .

This week i build a simple PCB Holder (wood) on rails

Rails 6€ on Amazon(with Prime) https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B06WP4 ... UTF8&psc=1
Wood (plate + 2 pieces) 0€ (got this stuff from home)

First i make the millings with the router. I was to deep so i used the hot-glue gun to made it plane.
1.jpg
Then we need the 2 pieces wood to make a gap.
3.jpg
On the left side in the ok Baby are 4 holes, i screwd 4 screws to mount the 2 pieces wood.

Thank you for your Tip. I got new Seimitsu Buttons and they fits very good with the bits.

Next step: The old Coin-sticker was not my Taste , so i put the Astro Sticker and edited it (from horizontal to vertical)
OKBaby.png
I print the sticker on normal paper and put a foil on it.
It is not perfect yet but for the moment i just leave it so (later i will try printing better quality ).

The Cab is not 100% done but i am very happy with it.
Paint job on the side is not perfect, but its ok for me.

When i have time i will edit the chassis holder and the coin sticker.

Nice, nice!
Beside the not so good monitor, the Ok Baby looks attractive to me.

After playing some hours on the Baby i noticed the angle from the Tube.
The angle is more flat then the Japanese candys (steep).

I took the chair a little bit higher, so for me it is ok.

The colors of the blank move strip deosn't really fit the rest of the artwork. Is this the original strip?

Shadolf wrote:I think the OK Baby and Pony Mark IV look very similar. You could do a optical conversion and go into the Pony style.
Were do you got/get an OK Baby in Austria or Germany? Are there more of them around? What is the price tag for one?
Nope, the Ok Baby is a clone of the "Tecmo Kyotaro Excellent", they are quite common around here, Ok Babies too, but I have seen the Tecmo version in better shape more often than Ok Babies.
tomiii wrote: Astros cab are very nice cabs, but the new astro is the king^^
New Astros have that fugly yellowed speaker shrowd, og. Astro also came with stereo amp and MS9's, so only advantage of the NAC over the og Astro is the speakers, but you can change those cheaply.

I find it quite funny how things are. I am in Argentina and the only candys to be found are mostly aero city and ok baby. Lots of them.
Not cheap and not in great shape ofcourse., But here it is super rare to find astros, let alone blast city mvs cabs and taito's that I see so much around here
Another chinese cab seen quite often is the ok baby's big brother, the 33" Ok jumbo.
Nope, in Argentina Market is scarce, cabs are plenty.

You can't find them because there isn't people selling, they either don't want to sell or simply don't know that there's an actual market for such stuff, you can find pretty much any cab in Argentina if you know where to look and have the right contacts.

Both versions use the same tube, when the monitor breaks, its easier to just put a MS9 in there instead of gambling your money repairing a 20+ years old electronic piece, altough I like the Ms8 chassis more (manual sync adjustments on the front vs auto sync) the MS9 is just a better/sturdier chassis, afaik later batches of og. Astros came equipped with Ms9's, out of 20 Astros I had worked on, only 5-6 had MS8's.
