Little Restauration for OK Baby Cab
Hi guys,

Sanding and painting the yellowed beast
Switch the Monitor and chassis (for an Grundig ST 70-782 , nice Picture and OSD. I must adjust the tube and chassis holder )
Take new Sticks (need an adapter, without i loose to many lenght)
New grafic for the marquee (the old one ist nothing for me )
Picture on Day 1 Clean and dissembling the candy Tube was very heavy (29`)

Day 1 ,part 2
Some Stuff After the Cleaning it go`s to sanding. I had it, needed over 1 hour with the hands . And now the last work for Day 1: covering for painting I was very exhausted after the sanding, but i think its ok for the first Day. Got some bleeding hands but i`m looking forward to the finished cab

Interesting to see how this turns out. Not sure I'd have the balls to go to town sandpapering the entire cab as soon as I'd bought it

It's a fine looking cab. Good luck with it. Hope you restore it to it's original glory.

Very nice, sir. Good luck!
It's probably too late to mention this, but there are ways to bleach the plastic back to its original white without sanding and painting.

Re: Little Restauration for OK Baby Cab
Thank you guys
Yesterday i finished the painting, pics coming soon.
Should i take the old decals for the side graphics ?
Yes i know it, i bleached my snes . But the Problem is that the door is not plastic. The other Problem is that its difficult to bleach every part similar. (at my friends cab it change the color after 1 or 2 years ).NoAffinity wrote:Very nice, sir. Good luck!

I think painting is the way to go tbh. I had a retro brite PCE which looked great to begin with, got it out of the cupboard the other day and it's started going yellow again (it's about a year old)

Re: Little Restauration for OK Baby Cab
I think the OK Baby and Pony Mark IV look very similar. You could do a optical conversion and go into the Pony style.
Were do you got/get an OK Baby in Austria or Germany? Are there more of them around? What is the price tag for one?

But the cp look like a bit like sega Astro , so i make the cp with Sega and Astro type font: (The other Stuff is for my Royal Video Special )
Got it from Germany, the Baby Cab was one of the few candys in europe . Comes with 230 V , you dont need an stepdown converter
Price for mine was 200, for an refurbished one ~300- 400.

Re: Little Restauration for OK Baby Cab
Quite surprising that OK BABY logo in the SEGA ASTRO style? Is that how it actually was? (It also looks a bit like the Arcade Otaku logo too!)

Do you know anyone that still sells them for that price? I have a friend who is looking to buy a cab, and i'm sure he would be happy to buy one for that price.tomiii wrote: Got it from Germany, the Baby Cab was one of the few candys in europe . Comes with 230 V , you dont need an stepdown converter

Re: Little Restauration for OK Baby Cab
For 200 I would definately take one or two. I would prefer 25" cabs these days, but they are on the rare side. And 200 is OK . It's a cab one can be creative without destroying something. You get me?! Never saw one on offer. What forum was it?

Wow interesting project !
The OK Baby is the cheapest candy cab around, a few people says the ok baby its just a clone. But for me its okay.
The Admin on Facebooks Neo Geo For Life page got this days a Sega Blast for 50 USD (Not Working, but he has already repaird it). That luckin bitch^^

Re: Little Restauration for OK Baby Cab
Does it have a 28" or 29" monitor?
I´ve seen that on the side decals it says Screen Size 28" - 29".
That confuses me a little.

Many cabs have different Tubes for an model.Shadolf wrote:Does it have a 28" or 29" monitor?

The Baby cabs comes with Orion(28") or Pentranic (28" or 29"). Mine got an 29 Pentranic.
But i will swap it for an 28" Grundig (with an Philips tube) .
