Blast City Speakers

Post by baddy »

Hi guys,

So, I've recently acquired a Blast in a decent state but a nice 100 000 on the credit counter...

The speakers are shot, and I'm looking for a replacement set.

http://www.toptone.co.jp/en/products/fu ... U01-1.html

So this is the exact reference I would need, however I don't really know where to source them in small quantities (x4) and ideally in Europe (shipping/lead time).

I'm also considering 3rd party speakers, but can't find replacement that would fit the enclosure as it is a very, very, tight fit.

Any help sourcing those speakers is greatly appreciated!

From what I understand, you can still order them through Sega's spare parts division.

I believe the part number for a Blast City speaker is 130-5156-01. Check out http://www.segaarcade.com/contacts/spares and try e-mailing them.

Just realised that you are in Sweden, might make more sense for you to contact the spare parts guys in the U.K. rather than the US http://www.segatotalsolutions.com/contacts/spares.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers

No I did not find spares. Toptones in Japan does not have any stock and replacement of the full assembly is too expensive. I ordered spare speakers from aliexpress a few weeks ago who should fit right in. I will post pictures when I received them. For info here's the aliexpress link http://www.aliexpress.com/item/8R-5W-LC ... 12175.html

yesterday i thought about my harmon kardonn sound stick speakers ... they got excellent soudn quality, and the satellites are very small. pretty sure they would fit too. active speakers these are.

Listing says full range, I should receive them in a few days. I'm sort of an audiophile so if it doesn't provide good sound I'll look for another alternative.

Quick update.

Received the speakers today.

They are thick, as they are actually fully enclosed speakers.

They will be tricky to integrate in the original enclosures, and I might have to discard them.

On a side note, as usual, removing the screen on a blast is a effing pain in the a**.

You have to split the cab to get to the speakers, is that true? can you take some photos while doing that transplant, please?

You can remove the speakers without separating the two halves of the cab. For that you need to bend the speaker brackets and then you can slide them out. Not pretty, beats having to disassemble the thing completely.

I'll take pics tonight.

Hi
Quite old thread, but was wondering how this all worked out? There is not much info on speakers replacements, and would like to find some for my blasts.

The speakers in the first post look like the speakers that are boxed in on initial d cabs (sega of course) could you open the box the speakers are in and use those?
