I'm having some problems getting Type X to work with my Lind. Naomi and 246 (the only other JVS hardware that I have) work without problems. Type X on the other hand exhibits this kind of behaviour:
Type X:
KOF98 UM: does not boot, "io error"
Type X2:
BBCS: does not boot, "io error"
The Type X hardware has been tested on other cabinets, so there's nothing wrong there.
The Lind has previously housed Lindbergh hardware, is there something I need to reconfigure? The JVS IO is model number 837-14572, is there some known incompatibility issue?
Any ideas? I'm seriously pulling my hair due to this
When you power up the cab, is the JVS I/O actually powered? I've noticed the Sun PSU seems to want the Lind motherboard attached to drive the ancillary items (control panel fluro, I/O..). Not sure if it's due to load expectations or just some wiring on the Lind <-> PSU harness.
In any case, it sounds like your I/O possibly isn't powered - you can confirm by simply looking at its LEDs.
Try connecting the Lindbergh to the PSU (no other connection necessary), and running the Type X2 at the same time.

JVS - ATX, simply move the switch to JVS and the PSU will fire up regardless (just like a Sun PSU), infact I leave it at that setting as it doesn't effect the ATX operation, it just ignore the PS-ON Sense flag.

Or you can remove the two larger power connectors on the PSU and just leave the top one plugged in, that will also make the PSU auto fire..
Actually, as a follow up question: what's the best way to power up the Type X from inside the cab? Preferably I would like to power up both of them with the ON/OFF switch behind the service door.
