Have since switched to an FD and have blown those times out of the water, will upload another pic if you want a challenge 8-) The skyline was good car to start with though, helped me get to grips with the game before I started to learn to drift and put some of the more advanced techs in.

Will be moving on to id2 soon, just got to master happogahara :o

My current times with the FD:-

Image

Myogi (Easy) - 2.57.232 - id 1 - RX-7 Type R [FD3S] - day - dry - counter
Myogi (Easy) - 3.00.563 - id 1 - RX-7 Type R [FD3S] - day - dry - clock
Usui (Normal) - 3.06.066 - id 1 - RX-7 Type R [FD3S] - day - dry - counter
Usui (Normal) - 3.05.081 - id 1 - RX-7 Type R [FD3S] - day - dry - clock
Akina (Hard) - 3.22.495 - id 1 - RX-7 Type R [FD3S] - day - dry - uphill
Akina (Hard) - 3.17.579 - id 1 - RX-7 Type R [FD3S] - night - dry - downhill

A clean run on myogi counter with the fd should bag you 3 minutes or under. Hot start, upshift at 6, 6.5, 7 (revs), then up into 5th gear at around 154km/h. Only turn you should need to break for is turn 4 (on lap 2 and 3), break to around 190km/h, off break, point your nose at the apex, full lock on right just before you enter the turn, accelerate out. Even if you don't turn early enough and your rear end bumps the outisde on exit, you should still be coming out at 195km/h or so and should end up with a run under 3 minutes. Also look out for turn 2 on laps 2 and 3, no need to break but you need to swing in from the outside and full lock left early.

8-)

To be honest none of my times are optimal, myogi counter is the only one with a hot start (only just read up on it, took about 1.5s off my first lap time), but it wasn't a perfect run! Regardless tho, you're playing id2 and I'm playing id1, no idea how they stack up against each other... I know the fd is the best car all-round in id1, but I'm not so sure for id2. I've also read that there a big differences in how much you are punished for wall riding in different versions.

I've got all three so will ultimately be playing id3, but am working my way through them 8-)

I bet I know which usui turn you mean, it's a hairpin left that starts off hard and then has a kink in it at the end, makes it very tough to judge. The daft thing is, clockwise you don't need to break for it at all, just take your foot off the pedal a little into the turn and accelerate out. Usui counter is kind of annoying because it's a long course with two severe hairpins, yet the rest of it is a cakewalk... you can spend ages playing it and then mess up one turn on the final lap

Finally got to grips with happogahara, can't beat Tak on the inbound just yet but it's only a matter of refining my breaking/shift points now. It's a mad course, after half a dozen practice runs something just clicked into place and I found myself able to weave through all those snaking S bends much better and am able to react to the track ahead of me quicker. I think training your brain to recognise the different "barriers" is the key as there are several different types on this course, in stark contrast to all the others which tend to just have the white crash barriers. On happo it's white barriers, hedges, rock walls, brick walls, tunnel, bridge, emergency barriers etc! Given the pace and difficulty of the course it's tough to work out what is what and react quick enough.

Will post new times over the weekend, have got a time for go-around-all-courses now too :awe:

Geo, would it make sense to keep this thread just for id1? I'll be moving onto id2 soon, so could start a new thread for that
