169 lines (138,504 points). Which beats my previous high-score (on the attempt just before that one) of 150 lines (but a score of 175,746). :)

Re: GB Tetris
Unfortunately, it's quite a different game -- not really comparable for a score thread, I'm afraid.Rossyra wrote:I don't have my GB any more that i can take a photo, but I do have the app
You probably don't have too much to worry about; I can almost guarantee he's not going to touch it. High-level GB Tetris is primarily a physical execution game, as the player is required to rapid tap in order to surpass the useless default move speed. It's the "Track & Field" of the Tetris world.Rossyra wrote:waits for kevin to fly in with some earth shattering score
NES Tetris, on the other hand... that's a game where you'd likely see some massive scores roll in.

Re: GB Tetris
Borrowed my mates GBA earlier while I wait for my GBP off the lovely Crunchywasp. I was always really crap on this as a kid, it's only been in recent years that Tetris has hit me hard! Even my mum could get more lines than me as a kid :/
I'm not sure if this score counts because of the speed differences Cools mentioned. I hope to better this soon.

Re: GB Tetris
Ta. 155 is where the speed kick in isn't it. It's best to stack really low at that point and just clear doubles/triples. The randomiser is so harsh on the GB version, it's really hard create spaces for upcoming pieces when the piece you need could be 20 pieces away and then you get screwed. It makes it a lot less skillful when compared to something like TGM.

Re: GB Tetris
I recieved my lovely black GBP from Crunchywasp this morning (thanks mate!) I did a test with a spare copy of Tetris I had next to my mates GBA and I can't see the speed increase at all, they feel exactly the same to me. Where did this info come from? Am I missing something?

Re: GB Tetris
Maybe it's Super Game Boy related? The first model runs games a bit faster and a lot of sources claim that GBC and GBA have the SGB built in as a feature, but maybe it's actually in SGB2 speed that's not any faster than the original.

Re: GB Tetris
maybe someone came up with it because of the processor speed , the gb is 4mhz and the colour was 8hz wasnt it ?
dont know if it would make a huge difference overall to the general look and preceived speed but trying to move a brick that is moving a couple of millisecounds faster would/could make the difference at higher levels
i'm sticking with the above reason why i'm struggling to get higher than level 12-13 these days
i never looked into what processing speed the pocket had

Re: GB Tetris
I dunno, feels identical to me. I did a 'scientific' test when I press start the exact same time on my mates GBA and a my GBP and I let the title screen music run for a few minutes and there wasn't even the slightest desync. I think it's a myth.... a cyber myth.

Re: GB Tetris
A similar test should be done with an original GB, a GBC, a GBA, a SNES with SGB and a SNES with SGB2 all at the same time.

...and on PAL, NTSC and SECAM variants.
Regarding the SGB, it's an awkward bit of kit. Some games run correctly on the SGB and others on the SGB2 but not vice versa.
I'm sure i saw a list somewhere not so long ago.

Re: GB Tetris
I've only compared the two SGBs with some Takara published ports of SNK fighters, but I felt like I could feel the difference.
