Thanks! The extra points came mostly from the Spitfire's charge shot which covers the screen and prevents enemies from slipping away. I also started maxing out powerups (using the P-51 I kept power at 3, not 4) and learned how to summon the gunbird train. Occasionally delaying the death of bosses would add an extra wave or so of popcorn enemies to milk.

Been trying to break 1mil with the Bf-109 but coming up shy, it's difficult ship to use in the second loop because it's homing shot makes the enemies spew suicide bullets in a not-so predictable manner.

Gave it a whirl with the P-51 and got real close though.
