Just noticed my board is set to 2 lives, with a free life at 200,000. Need to adjust that...
MAME Defaults are: Difficulty - Medium, Bonus Life - 70k, 200k, 200k+, Lives - 3, Allow Continues - Yes. Looking at this page I think we just need to turn all of the dipswitches off.

We should probably check we're on the same version too :) I've got a single small board with the JAPAN Only notice on boot up - TNZSJO.zip in MAME.
First level looks like this:

I have the same Japanese board as you Dave

I checked my dips though and it was set on A difficulty rather than the default B :palm:

Everything is turned off now so it should be default.

1st credit and:

So many stupid deaths though, I know I can do much better.

Fractionally better score wise but I didn't get as far. I managed 175k on my first life but then I lost two lives in quick succession at the blow pipe guys at the start of 2-4 and then the boss took my last two :palm:

:) Got to 3-1. Gotta say, I hate the last jump in 2-2, where you have to jump the gorse-stuff to reach the cage. Usually i've got the double speed "perk" by that point just to make it all the more difficult.

Managed 225k on my first life and racked up five 'spare' lives. When you reach five you get one Kiwi with number next to it rather than one to four Kiwi's.

It all went a bit down hill after that and I really struggled on 3-1 to get the right vehicle to get out of one section. I hardly saw any of 3-2 and died my last death, that is until I saw the heaven round for the first time :)

I'm not really sure what the deal is with the heaven round. I got a bit of a story at the start of it, managed to get to the end of it and then I got a little more of a story and then it was game over. It didn't really even give me any more points. :eh:

Anywho, in the excitement I managed to put the wrong initials in :palm: :awe:

Looks similar enough to my board, same codes on the board too it seems. Hear's hoping for Japan (old)!
