Dead/non working CPS2 A boards

Post by richmal »

I have bought 4 A+B boards from Japan.Which were shown to be working.
So far only 1 out of 3 is fully working :( I have tried swapping A and B boards and there are definitely 2 sets that have died/don't work. I'm not holding my hopes up for the last set I have to test.
I have read that once an 'A' board dies or stops working it can't be repaired.
Is this true?

I've been killing CPS2 A boards to repair rare CPS1 boards whose CPS-A-01 or CPS-B-21 chips failed. Considering these chips are failing on CPS1 boards nothing prevent them from failing as well on CPS2 boards.

CPS2 boards are actually a lot more common than CPS1, likely due to CPS1 piracy reducing the demand of legit CPS1 boards.

Perhaps that's a political/philosophical topic. I wouldn't bat an eye about killing a CPS2 A board to restore a Dai Makaimura or Final Fight back into working order.
