Taito F3 Super Cup Finals: Who has a cart?

Post by Asure »

Trying to find out if this exists in cart form or not, and if so, which version of the game code is on it.

For some reason all the dumps of this game (including one which appears to come from a cart version) have protection in it.
This protection relies on NVRAM (like the Bubble Bobble 3 Extra Mode). And as we all maybe know, swapping a cart wipes the nvram.
The game will then never start. If you have this combo, do not swap carts!

So, who has this game on cart?
Does it still work? (if you already unplugged the game and swapped in another cart.. do not swap it if you didn't!)
Is there a warning sticker not to swap?
What version does it display in the test menu?

Thanks!

I think the only games with cart releases were

Arkanoid Returns
Bubble Memories
Bubble Symphony / Bubble Bobble II
Cleopatra Fortune
Darius Gaiden - Silver Hawk
Elevator Action II / Elevator Action Returns
Gekirindan
Hat Trick Hero '94 / International Cup '94
Hat Trick Hero '95 / Taito Power Goal
Kaiser Knuckle / Global Champion / Dan-Ku-Ga
Kirameki Star Road
Land Maker
Moriguchi Hiroko no Quiz de Hyuu!Hyuu!
Pop'n Pop
Puchi Carat
Puzzle Bobble 2 / Bust-A-Move Again
Puzzle Bobble 2X
Puzzle Bobble 3
Puzzle Bobble 4
Quiz Theater - 3tsu no Monogatari
Space Invaders '95/ Akkanveder
Space Invaders DX
Twin Cobra II / Kyukyoku Tiger II

This is what a Super Cup Finals pcb looks like. Small sub board but not cart. That folded over sticker could be a warning label

I have the board, but it's the same as the one above, a daughter board rather than cart.

Ah, i get an idea where the confusion may come from now.
The sub board could be thought of as a 'cart' even though it only holds the graphics and sound chips. Program code is still on the board.

The warning sticker is for the +5V adjustment knob which is factory adjusted, they warn you not to adjust it.

I have the single board (no daughter) evolution of both Cup Finals and Super Cup finals. Still wondering if there is maybe a cart around, even though i seems unlikely to me.

I know absolutely nothing about this protection system on the F3. Is there a list of games which are known to operate this way?
And I guess the protection is implemented on versions with daughtercards rather than carts, right?
My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.
