Anybody have this pcb, and if so, would you share some high res pictures of it?

It's not hard to tell the difference If you see 10 chips with windows covered by stickers, then it's a conversion.rugdoctor wrote:heard someone is selling or offering conversions of this game...

Re: Biomechanical Toy PCB pictures?
I need to get more chips to test but it looks to be just a Rom swap with a few jumpers to set so far.

It could be since here are two revisions of Biomechanical Toy (as well as Thunder Hoop and Squash), one unprotected and the other with encrypted video RAM.You can recognize this by a /1 or /2 after the silkscreening on PCB.Asure wrote:I need to get more chips to test but it looks to be just a Rom swap with a few jumpers to set so far.

Sure, it's amazing, shame that he never releases any of his works and do it only for profit. This is higlhy harmful for the whole community.rodwod wrote:No its more then just a rom & jumper swap cos ive done that already last year.

Caius need some more sex to be happy in the life ? (humour touch)
it's easy to say bad words
Never released stuff ? phoenix no logo, cps1Pal maker ......
And for the hear in the head you're very small in your head.
Easy way to attack people here, it's not the first time.
Go to repair pcb you're good at that, not for the critical with bad information.

Re: Biomechanical Toy PCB pictures?
I've dumped the /2 eproms from Squash yesterday evening late, but they are the same as the protected /1 version.caius wrote:It could be since here are two revisions of Biomechanical Toy (as well as Thunder Hoop and Squash), one unprotected and the other with encrypted video RAM.You can recognize this by a /1 or /2 after the silkscreening on PCB.Asure wrote:I need to get more chips to test but it looks to be just a Rom swap with a few jumpers to set so far.
If i get a bit of spare time, i will try to see if there is a specific set of init/read/write routines to set up the custom(s) on this board.
If not, i'll take a look at plugging BMT into the Mame driver w/ encrypted ram, and see what needs to be done.
Which reminds me, someday i need to get back to Punisher and C&D on CPS2. We were pretty close until protection and sprite priorities got in the way.
Recently another great hacker made a CPS1 conversion of C&D, so i am confident we can work out the protection from the bootlegs or something

I can't blame him for trying to make a few quid from it
Caius if you find anything out please post it here as my friend is also working on the pcb.

Re: Biomechanical Toy PCB pictures?
My hope at this point is that the code has some 'library' call they use for RAM access, which could be transplanted from say, squash, into BMT.
But i need to find some free time to look at the 68k code. Many other projects and real life suck up my free time these days
As for making money, well, some people do it that way, others just release a DOOM/DOOM2/Ultimate Doom ETC. port for free on Pandora's box 4S/4X

Re: Biomechanical Toy PCB pictures?
Thanks Rodwod, but i have been compiling Mame myself for some time, so it's not really needed at this point
But, maybe you know, for your tests, did you swap all the proper resistors, including the one near 'F4'?
I'm still waiting on 27C040's to do initial tests, and this F4 jumper/resistor is looking at me like it controls some lines into RAM.
It would make sense if the boards have hardware control over turning on/off the encrypted ram.
Everything else is labelled the same on the /2 boards. Even the customs have the same names/stickers on them.

Re: Biomechanical Toy PCB pictures?
This is what i did after i put the roms in.
But it did not work so i tried to change as much stuff on the pcb as possible to make it look like shou's bio pcb.
I used NM27C040Q the same type used on the original pcb.
The bio pcb picture i was using as a reference has AFN & BFN custom chips but my squash pcb has AFN AFN.
From November / December 2015
Ignore the purple boxes that ive highlighted by the jamma connector.
Most of the sprites are good and the sound worked 100% so did the program.

Re: Biomechanical Toy PCB pictures?
Fortunately we have great minds working on the conversion without the need for specific revisions. Is another 4 or so months for a solution acceptable for most?
