I picked up a Golden Axe 2 board awhile back, I got around to tossing it into my NAC cab today and...sadly none of the buttons responded. There wasn't any sound either, but perhaps I'd actually have to make it past the "press start" screen and into the actual game to see if the sound worked. I put the board into my Blast City as well with the same results...
Am I missing something really obvious here?? Is there an adapter cable for the controls to run System 32 boards in candy cabinets or anything?
Thanks for any tips!

Re: Golden Axe 2: RotD no controls...
Nothing else is needed to run the game.
Is the motherboard working ok ? can you test the rom board on another motherboard ?
Did you reset the back up data in the test menu ?
Try testing the controls in the test menu (use the service button on the motherboard to select an option and push the test button next to it to enter that option screen)
You can also try.
Make sure the control ports are connected an easy mistake to make.
Set the game to 2player mode & set it to use the start button. Also try changing the coin chute type to common.
It helps if you can upload some pics.

Awesome info!
I found the two test buttons on the mainboard above the 4 mysterious dip switches. I tested the RAM/ROM and they all checked out good... I reset the backup data and changed over the coinage settings and now the controls are working perfect.
Sadly...still no sound though... I tried turning the sound pot up and down and the cabinet sound pot as well, no luck. I'm getting +5.3v and +11.7v off the jamma harness. It's currently hooked up in a Blast City cabinet...

Glad we have the controls working now
please send a pic of the pcb.I have had sound volume issues before with pcb's on my astro city but not with sega made games.
Oh and set the dip switches to all off just to be sure.

I took a few pics and posted them here! All the dips are in the off position...

Ok thanks for the pics.
Everything looks ok but check & make sure that the eprom (14945 location IC36) is connected to its socket properly its underneath the security dongle.
You should be able to see it without moving the dongle.
I noticed that the motherboard is missing the battery but i don't think this will solve the problem.
Its a CR2032 watch battery.
Have you tested other jamma pcb's on the cab ?
