It would be cool to use this to be able to use standard Dimm boards and not just Net-Dimm boards:

Even though the DIMM board uses a SCSI connector it's not actually a SCSI interface.

You know you can use a compact flash card adapter instead of a GD drive if you update the firmware? (admittedly a pretty convoluted process on a regular DIMM)

Slightly off topic here but for the sake of curriosity which is more cost effective running a CF card through a standard updated Dimm board or just buying the Net Dimm. :awe:

Just buying a Net Dimm.

To CF upgrade a regular DIMM board you to have remove a surface mounted chip, flash a new firmware on it, and then solder it back. Then you have to take the bottom board, swap in it to a Net Dimm, and netboot two more firmware upgrades. Final step is putting the bottom board back in the regular DIMM. Like I said, a convoluted process :)
