Dip switches while on?
Maybe this is a stupid question, but do you need to turn off the cab to manipulate the dip switches? Thought it is better to ask before a do something I might regret.

For example MVS has a pause switch.

Re: Dip switches while on?
So basically depends on the hardware your using, you haven't specified that so it's impossible to give the correct information.

I personally wouldn't flip any switches while the game is running.

Re: Dip switches while on?
Changing dip switch configuration while the game is running won't hurt the board at all. *BUT* most games only read them once at boot time so it won't make effect until the board is power cycled.
Some games do read dip switch continually though. Some even use toggling the service mode dipswitch ingame to enable invincible mode (muteki) cheat. (Tatsujin/Truxton is an example of that)

Re: Dip switches while on?
Ok, I was more worried about damaging the boards. I don't like turning the machine on and off, something tells me is bad for the monitor (just a mania). I will flip them at will, if no changes are made then restart the cab.
