Alternative to YAC513

Post by RMRM »

Hi guys,

i have a Dangun Feveron with no sound, and i suspect the problem must be realated to the DAC, in this case, it's an YAC513. The problem is that it seems it's getting difficult to find this model.

Can someone point me an smd direct replacement? Or do you have a spare to sell?

Thanks in advance

Unlike OPL3 (requires YAC512) OPL4 uses standard I2S at standard frequencies. Anything which works with a I2S stream will work with it.

Anyway, you can use a YAC516 (pinout is different) or stuff like Philips TDA1386T(the one used on Sega Saturn and ST-V), NEC uPD6376 (SNES/SFC), Sanyo LC78815 (Neo Geo CD).

If you want something that fits straight there in place of a YAC513, nope. There's no such thing. Try China!

I believe it's easier for your problem to be on the op-amps than on the actual DAC chip...
