Marvel Vs Capcom Black Stage
Keep getting a black background for just one stage in Marvel Vs Capcom. All other stages/sprites are clear, and the boards are seated well.

Lol, but seriously, this is suppose to be the stage in question:

You can see that the sprites that are part of of the BG are visible, and I've noticed when matches end the background will flash visible for a split second when it cuts to the victors screen.

Possible that your B board is faulty or the BGSB3 PAL you're using is either wrong or faulty.

Re: Marvel Vs Capcom Black Stage
The funny thing is that the game works flawlessly regardless and there are no other occurrences of this issue on any other stage.
What can I do to confirm the BGSB3 pal is faulty?

Re: Marvel Vs Capcom Black Stage
Connect it on another game which uses maximum CPS2 ROM size (Vampire Savior, MSH vs Street Fighter, Street Fighter Zero 3 to mention some).

Re: Marvel Vs Capcom Black Stage
Your board has battery or is it phoenix? You could move your roms to another board and test them.
It's also possible that the graphics ROMs could have developed a fault. But honestly knowing how the board works I think it's more likely the board has a fault instead.
Have you tested a different A board? Most of the graphics hardware is actually on the A board.

Haven't tested with my other A Board, but I can give it a shot later on! I'll return with feedback.

Tried my other A Board and had the same results.

Then it's either one or more of the graphics maskroms (chips 13 through 20) or the B board that are faulty.

Re: Marvel Vs Capcom Black Stage
Just jumping in to get everyone up to date that I resolved the issue.
I swapped out MvC to play Xmen v SF and made a small adjustment to the contrast to tone it down a little bit, and eventually put MvC back in to find the stage was now visible! I confirmed by dialing up and down with contrast and it just goes to solid black at one point... weird but I'm psyched!

Thumbs up for having reported back the truth.DanyoGusto wrote:I confirmed by dialing up and down with contrast and it just goes to solid black at one point... weird but I'm psyched!
Facepalm, yes, but **** happens to everybody.
My 15kHz cabinet Peplos will never power up, with any item, and I am quite proud of that.
