That PCB has X-Multiply roms :)
Yes you're right, I took that photo before I changed the roms back to Mr. Heli
I have about 5 rom kits. I'm glad to see that people know exactly what they're looking at.

rom chips do look a bit odd, but that is what cps1 boards generally look like, and it's obviously got CAPCOM printed onto it as well. can you do rom swaps on cps1..?

You can.

The fact all the stickers are missing is a bit off. Plus it's one of the newer shorter motherboards. Looks like a conversion to me.

Looks like a romswap, its unusual to find CPS-1 rom boards with all their labels missing :)

here are some interesting etched logos from various bootlegs i have owned/sold/scrapped in the last 3 years, if you see these logos, you have a bootleg pcb, they are pretty cool tho hehe :

I can speak with great authority on any pre-1994 pcbs if anyone needs authenticating any of your own. I currently have over 1000 pcbs and have repaired/bought/sold easily a thousand more in the last 12 years... my speciality is generally pre 1994 stuff.

enjoy

This one is super handy, just got a boot on here (sold as a boot of course) but good to see the original.
The boot is now up and running 100% though, and it's great (a steal at £10 shipped. :awe: )
Well, great for nostalgia purposes - the game itself is a pile of duff.

I've came by what looks like a bootleg Final Fight CPS1. It bears some similarities to the booty FF board earlier in this thread

The CPS board looks like it's real, it's noticeably better quality than the ROM board and the daughterboard

CPS board:

Rom board, it has the tell-tale hand slodering look about it:

daughter board:

It looks like it has a suicide battery which FF isn't supposed to have I thought

Image

The game doesn't boot, it only plays the same sound every time its switched on then does nothing else

Bootleg. A board is original, B board is boot, C board I can't tell - shots of the other side?

The suicide battery for CPS1, if present is on the C board.

Thats not a suicide battery, its just a large radial polarised cap for the sound amp.

And as strange as it seems , that C Board appears to be a mixture of an original Capcom IC on board a bootlegged PCB.

lol suicide battery. And of course putting a suicide battery on the A board would make total sense.......

Here's a really bad picture of a legit cps1 B board. They pretty much all look like this

Image

easiest way to tell your non running FF is a boot is because the rom chips aren't socketed. I've never seen a legit cps1 b board that doesn't use sockets for the rom chips

Here is the original CPS1 CAPCOM - Ghouls'n Ghosts Dai Makai-Mura 1988 [JAMMA]
You can see that the original CPS1 boards are much longer. <------------------------------>
Your board seems to be an original CPS1'dash/CPS2 board similar to Street Fighter II but looks have been rom swapped/repaired and or tampered with.
You may also notice the 'seals' in the middle or center of each intergrated circuit, or rom chip have been taken off. Look at the 'blue colour and rainbow shimmer' like a cd in your small photo.
Take a larger photo and we can see what it was from originally.
What does it say on the white sticker on the top right hand corner ? [1st photo]
