CPS1 Volume Pot

My CPS1 volume pot is playing up a bit ive tried cleaning it but its still the same , Can you buy the pots from anywhere and just solder on a new one ?

Yes, you can. :)

Does it make cracking sounds when you turn it? The 'wipers' in these old pots tend to scratch and become useless over time, so if you have the pffftchrrrchrss sounds when you turn it, that's the problem right there.

Yeah crackly and seems to be either on or off when i turn it , do you know where i can buy the pots ?

Just bought 10 x 10k pots on eBay for approximate $2.50.

Just put in "10k potentiometer" in the eBay search.. Check your old pot so it's not a 1k, 50k or something.

All i can see on the old pot is 1450 z.zkb on the side and 55 cast into the top

Any info printed on the PCB?

Looking at "Forgotten Worlds" VR1 is 2.2Kohm..

If it's not completely FUBAR you should be able to desolder and measure it.

Keep in mind that volume pots are generally logarithmic.
