CPS2 board resetting itself
I'm trying to run a CPS2 in a New Net City (custom-wired for Jamma, not using any adapters) and I'm getting a strange problem-- the games will randomly reboot. For SSF2T, it happens sometimes when it loads a stage or Game Overs. For Super Gem Fighter, it'll go haywire when you pick certain characters.
I've tried with two different CPS2 A-Board and two different B-Boards, and the issue happens no matter what combination I use. I've also tried adjusting the 5v line on the cab to various levels with no avail.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Re: CPS2 board resetting itself
Do you use the original clamps to hold them together firmly ?
If not put some pressure on them and see if they still act strange .

If it's already been opened before, you could try opening the B board and checking the voltages there. Do you have other non-CPS2 games, and does it happen with those?fubarduck wrote:Yep, what should I measure besides the 5v line?davewellington wrote:Do you have a multimeter?

Re: CPS2 board resetting itself
Doesn't happen with any other games. I usually run a Naomi (JVS) in it and it works fine. Other JAMMA boards work fine as well.
I was using the clamps originally, but when I was testing/swapping A/B boards, I didn't have the clamps on. I'll try again with the boards smushed together really hard =P

Re: CPS2 board resetting itself
i saw this same problem recently for 3s in a net city cab. when we plugged in the kick harness that came with it and when we were testing the buttons it went off. were now using the wiring in the net city but now when you throw 50/50 it gives you the throw or LK same with taunting and UOH. i'll check if it's the orginal clamps today

Re: CPS2 board resetting itself
Ah hah, now we're getting somewhere---it does seem to happen when mashing buttons, so perhaps it's the kick harness built into the NNC wiring causing the issue. I'll try wiring up a custom kick harness for it and see if that eliminates the issue.

Grounding out something that shouldn't be is most likely the cause of the board resetting.perhaps it's the kick harness built into the NNC wiring causing the issue

Re: CPS2 board resetting itself
Actually, I got a bad case of the flu the day after creating this thread, so I still haven't had time to try anything with it. Hopefully I can get around to it next week.

Re: CPS2 board resetting itself
Just mentioning, there's a lot of extra buttons on the CPS2 kick harness pins, including volume +/-, test and service buttons.
Also, I believe it has a +5V output which could be getting shorted.
