Naomi setup - buttons 4/5/6

Post by Neo'nate »

From what I can determine of the naomi hardware it arranges the button setup or you auto, and with that it often limits the numbers of buttons in use. For guilty gear x for example it only recognises buttons 1 and 2 (a four butto game) and with street fighter buttons 1 to 3. So what do I need in order to play 4/5/6 and even 7 button games?

Cheers

Do you have it setup in a Naomi Uni or using an IO?

If it's an IO, Sega v1/2/Capcom?

On the Awave for Naomi/CPS2 etc you need to run an extra button loom to buttons 4,5,6.
Say hello to my little friend...

Ok,

I've been in conversation with Andy on this one and he says I'm going to need to make my own harness.

I'm running naomi on an Awave SD, with a Capcom I/O

Has anyone done this before?

Yes & it worked perfectly.

The capcom IO does 4/5/6 via a stadard CPS2/CPS3 kick harness. For games like GGXX buttons 1-5 go over the jamma connector from what I recall, using the standard AWSD plugs.

yea I have, just add a CPS2 kick loom, same as you with any cab, 10 minute job
if you were using a Sega I/O it would support 5 buttons from the JAMMA loom, you *may* even have the harness that hooks up button 6 on the Sega I/O present in your cab
