STV Board Not Working

Just got my hands on my first STV board with a Decathelete cart, only I can't get it to work. With the cart in, it gets past the first few screens up to the black screen with checking memory... or whatever, then just goes black and then nothing. Without a cart, the board boots to the STV screen. You can get into the test menu and into the memory check where it checks for a few minutes but then goes to a screen with a load of garbled mess. **** motherboard?
