I could not reproduce the bug on the powered gear rom. Perhaps that is something that only happen on the real hardware ? :wtf:

Hi everybody !

Thanks for your stuff, it's a really good job ! :thumbup:

I have a question about 2 sets (I don't test the others for the moment ^^)
I have download the "old" set for 2 games (Choko and Puzz loop 2) few months ago, test them brievely, and they seems to work normally.
The last week, a friend (these 2 boards are not mine) ask me to send it back these games.
So, previously, I look sometimes the news on this thread, and I check if someone update these 2 sets.
I don't see any post for these games, but when I donwload again these sets, the CRC is different for both of them.
Only the Rom 3 changed, but when I test the "new" set, it's not working.

- I have a white screen for Choko.
- Puzz loop 2 freeze on a "new" Ram check

Image

Someone can tell me where is the problem ?
For information, I send back these 2 boards (with the "older" set), so, if someone change something, I can't test it again.

(sorry for my english, I do my best ^^)

Have you shorted the capacitor? It has to be done sometimes with Phoenix roms.

Pretty certain we have not uploaded any updated versions of those games, so nothing should have changed since you first downloaded the decrypted sets.

Could you please list the CRC you get for each of the files? I will then compare with what I have on my hard disk.

Yep, thanks idc.
Here's come the CRC:

Choko (old -working- version):
tkojdl.03 -> E0F6A26E
tkojdl.04 -> 023387EF

Choko (new -not working- version):
tkojdl.03 -> 26CBDC32
tkojdl.04 -> the same

Puzz loop 2 (old -working- version):
pl2jdl.03a -> 4CC21D12
pl2jdl.04a -> 337289DF
pl2jdl.05a -> 0742C250C
pl2jdl.06a -> 7BE9CB88

Puzz loop 2 (new -not working- version):
pl2jdl.03a -> 12082766
pl2jdl.04a -> the same
pl2jdl.05a -> the same
pl2jdl.06a -> the same

And I don't remember the "Ram check" boot screen on the original Puzz loop 2 board.

The games listed below were tested and works great!

MARVEL SUPER HEROES (USA 951117)
Decrypted by MottZilla (rev. 130415)

X-MEN VS. STREET FIGHTER (USA 961023)
Decrypted by MottZilla (rev. 130415)

MARVEL VS. CAPCOM (USA 980123)
Decrypted by MottZilla (rev. 130412)

You can mark them as "VERIFIED WORKING ON CPS2 HARDWARE"

Nice progress guys but what about the BRAZIL version/region of the games?

Only one BRAZIL version decrypted so far ;)

A lot of the games Mottzilla released were decrypted with his advanced XOR clashing tool. So they're mostly automated, with a minimum level of manual intervention.

Because of that, we need them to be tested throughly. 8-)

The games I decrypted were decrypted manually and it was a quite painful process of analysis.
Since I have some mild form of ADHD I sometimes let bugs slip un-noticed. But even then I am pleased with errors and bug reports. And I have worked as fast as possible to fix them.

Months ago I got swift reports of problems with the Rockman rom at Cloudman stage by Mainman. I worked quickly and found it to be a small routine wrapped around two data sections which dealt with one of Cloudman attacks. Once that was fixed I got no further reports of problems with that particular game, which was then deemed working on real hardware.

There's a pending bug at Powered Gear SVAE settings/service menu which I was unable to duplicate yet. If I get eproms I can try it on the real thing, but then debugging will be a nightmare.

I left each game running on attract mode for about 2 hours.

After that i played them from start to finish using different characters, taking continues, beating the final boss and using both players side.

Couldn't test extensive versus play yet but that will be done soon :)

I wouldn't deem the Powered Gear error to be critical, very minor it seems. I can have an arcade run the decrypted version on location if that would prove a better testing ground ;)

Would love to see the Japanese D&Ds done soon! hint hint!
