Sentimental Value

Post by ArcadeSTG »

Which one of your cabs treasures the higher sentimental value? 8-)

In my case is the NAC, I got it as a present from my girlfriend in 2008. I know, best girlfriend ever :awe:

Hmm, hard to say but if I'd have to pick one it would probably be my Super Spacefortress Macross. It was my first PCB :awe:

I've had the same Sega Saturn since I was 14, so that one has sentimental value. The one cab I have has only been with me for about a year, so.. I did spend roughly a year to get it nice and shiny though.

Taito Canary - My wife bought it for me for a reasonable(ish) price.

It arrived almost a year ago in pants condition, burnt monitor, buggered PSU, bad paint, messed art etc.

After restoration and paying customs and shipping, it's ended up costing me stupid money :palm:

It's almost complete now - just waiting for a few bits. The journey to restoration and getting it running (and the fact my wife paid for some of it) makes it my most sentimental.

Big shout to Monstermug(awesome spray!), supertakumar(import help), grantspain(monitor God), Ronnie(Tube import help), muddymusic(Artwork) and wurstkopp(2L12B CP) for making it all come together :)

Just goes to show that this really is a great community :awe:

Pics soon!

One of my Egret 2s, I drove for about 5h to get to her.
The screen was burn-free and it had every bolt, I paid about 400 Euro and drove home again.
Home I took the decision to take her apart to the last bolt and do a full restore, paint and all.
She still stands in my arcade today and I restored 4 cabs after her but she was the first.

Today she wears an original Egret 2 1P panel.

Probably my NAC, which I hunted down in 2003 (1st NAC in the UK?) and pre-killer cab days. I placed an ad on an arcade operators classified ad online and a company in the south of France emailed me saying he had x2 in stock for 490Euros and 250Euros shipping to Wales. I had a shipping date and waited all day for it to arrive only for it to be cancelled until the following day.. It was worth the wait, though :) And I still have that same cab in the corner of my living room today and it still gets regular play for a quick bash on TGM.

Super Famicom. It was my first imported bit from Japan and I've been fascinated by this country ever since. It was also the first time I had actually worked to get something. Ok, that was a lie :D but I really loved the console back in the days and I'm still loving it today. :)
Arcade related: My Smash TV cabinet. Took me over 20 years to get it since I had been playing it the first time. And it was worth the waiting. :)

My first JAMMA cab which I still own (Europlay II), and the Turbo cockpit. Turbo CP is the only game my grandfather played with me at an arcade, and it was just the one time.
