What is your second most favorite arcade game?
Hey Guys,
I am looking to expand my collection of arcade games and in the meantime I think I have a nice understanding of what the best and greatest games are. I am however interested in understanding what your second most favorite games are. In other words which games are still the hidden gems of arcade games?
Looking forward to your suggestions and it would be great to understand the reasons behind your choice as well.
Regards,
Pieter

Snow Bros, because it's fun
Cosmic smash (Naomi) because it's simple and beautiful
Now go Grail them. They are both £50 games, but who knows for how long

I don't know how it would make sense to assume that everyone's second most favourite arcade game is a hidden gem, so I will just recommend a game that I personally think isn't getting enough attention: Quarth
Emulation's nice when done well

I really like Dark Seal, don't really think it gets much attention, but I thinks its a nice little game.
Part Dungeon Crawler, Part Brawler, pretends to be a pseudo action RPG but isn't really. It has lovely isometric graphics and I quite like it. Not my fave, but it's fun!

Zero Team is a little known Seibu title but one of the best brawlers out there. Unfortunately it's on a one way ticket to Grailsville.

Taitos Fighting Hawk it's almost Sky Shark quality - also it's one of the tiniest boards I have, so it's cute, too.

Re: What is your second most favorite arcade game?
Thanks for the input guys. This helped me a lot to get some inspiration on new games to collect. Throughout the web I received a lot of suggestions next to yours. Below you will find the short list as I had to prune the list substantially to make it manageable. I watched the longplays of the games and selected the following games to be on the list:
Are there any games that we still miss?
- Hammerin Harry
Guardians / Denjin Makai 2
Deamon Bride
Metamorphic Force
In The Hunt
Punisher
Radiant Silvergun
Soukyugurentai / Terra Diver
Elevator Action Returns
Deathsmiles
Dodonpachi Daioujou
Mushihimesama
Double Dragon
Xain'd Sleena
Spy Hunter
Sunset Riders
Shark Attack
Donkey Kong 3
Strider
Breakers Revenge
Air Buster / Aeroblasters
Buta San
Final Star Force
Bubble Bobble
Rainbow Islands
Sprint 2
Parodius Da!
Gokujyou Parodius!
Sexy Parodius
Violent Storm
Bucky O'hare
All Points Bulletin
Time Soldiers
Crackdown
Black Tiger
Black Dragon
Robocop
Smash TV
Shadow Dancer
Shadow Warriors
Point Blank
X-Men vs Street Fighter
Twinkle Star Sprites

Good to see Deamon Bride, Guardian/ Denjin Makai II en Metamorphic Force (Japanese version?) on the list.
Good luck finding the games on your list...some will be hard to find.

Some of my essentials but not tops are already on your list but I personally always have to have these in rotation: Snow Bros, Hammerin Harry, Windjammers, Progear no Arashi, Elevator Action Returns. None of which are exactly
- gems though.

Re: What is your second most favorite arcade game?
I would add Neo Mr. Do to the list.
It is not grail (as I know) but I and my family & friends do really like it. Actually it is one of the most played arcade games here .
Snow Bros, Progear no Arashi, Elevator Action Returns, Twinkle Star Sprites, Giga Wing, Twin Cobra 2, In the Hunt, Go! Go! Mile Smile, Magical Drop 3 would also be on my list.
But Twinkle Star Spites isn't exactly cheap (as original). Goes for about 1000€ as I remember.
