The original battery is rechargeable. Just ask the new owner to keep the machine turned on to charge it (unless the battery is kaput).

I told him this three times..

As i played it a hour or so a day, the settings where safed to the other day.
So the battery is fine. Maybe the motherboard has to be on power for a view days..

Those batteries are old and need to be replaced. I guess it's just "common sense" that when you buy a motherboard, you should't expect a fresh battery unless stated otherwise.

The buyer isn't being reasonable.

The MV1 has a soldered battery, so I'd definitely want to know if it was or wasn't working before purchase.

What you really want to know is if the battery has leaked and corroded the surrounding area. The MV1 is the oldest 1-slot and has a 3.6V Ni-Cd battery (made of three 1.2V stacked cells) that is likely to have already leaked if it has never been changed.

Like i said. The battery safe was working. But i guess of his age it didnt safe over days.
No leaked. Sure the battery was changed sometime in the past.

Anyway, thanks guys for the input!
Guess the buyer understand my standpoint now a bit better.

I have to disagree.
If the battery saves only over a day the motherboard is plain and simple not working properly full stop. If you know about this issue you ought to tell your buyer this issue.
It's the gentleman's way of conducting business.

Honestly why is it so hard to tell if a battery needs to be replaced? Being truthful isn't a vice or something

Seeing this is a public debate now, I'll come forward as the buyer. I bought eckart's NEO XYX + MV1 bundle for a lot of money. The whole transaction went smooth, good communication, rapid and proper shipment.

However upon installing the MV1 in my NAC, I was presented with a wrongly aligned NEO XYX screen (apparently you need to set the YOKO mode as a softdip). So I configure the game and enjoy a few of rounds of NEO XYX. Later that day I decide to play another round and what the.... I need to configure the softdip again... :eh: So I do some searching on the WWW and read about the recharging capabilities of the battery, so I keep my NAC running for quite some hours afterwards. The next day, again the same ****, conclusion the battery doesn't hold it's power. This makes playing NEO XYX really annoying, seeing that every time when I want to play the game I'll need to open up my cab and configure the softdip.

This made me decide to contact the seller (in a polite matter) and even going as far as assuming he didn't know about this issue and asking for a proposal how to solve this matter. And as this topic shows, eckart has a different opinion on this matter and turned me down initially. I had no idea the mayority of MVS mainboards had these problems, let alone NEO XYX depends on a softdip to be played properly in YOKO. In my opinion, especially seeing this being sold as a bundle, any seller should include these details.

Full disclosure eventually I asked for a reimbursement at cost for letting someone localy take care of this issue, this got turned down. Eckart has later counter offered me to take care of the problem, if I pay for shipping and send the MV1 back, which undoubtedly back/forth will be more costly then getting someone to fix it locally. So I let this rest, I had enough of this tug-o-war.

For future buyers of NEO XYX, be aware you need a proper functioning battery in your MVS mainboard or be prepared to continuously setup the game for YOKO play.
