Region locked cabs? Nesica?

EDIT: Looks like the OP knows how to organize this and handle beggars. :thumbupright:

How quickly does Grandma want them out? :hinthint:

There are a few dealers here who would happily buy the lot and work with you to arrange shipping via container.

Japan prices for cabs like the Sega Astros are low ($150-$300 each), but you also have some rarities there that are worth much more (I wouldn't like to guess how much).

You'll get the best price if you can spare the time to research, ask lots of questions here, list and photograph everything in detail, and - if you can spare a LOT of time - get them up and running. If not someone will probably still buy them, but at half the price or less.

You're sitting on quite some value there so take your time if you have it. You may enjoy the process of sorting through them all, and we'd definitely enjoy reading updates. Any PCBs and smallish parts you come accross might be surprisingly valuable too (we buy all sorts of smelly old crap). And if you would individually sell and ship those smaller items yourself, you would be making a lot of us very happy while making more money for yourself. Again, you'll have to take some detailed photos and keeping asking for help and advice.

Make good use of our 'What's it Worth' thread:

http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=4775"
It's actually the opposite. Most Japanese wouldn't touch Aeros or Astros. I had a guy with 10 Astros (not mint) who couldn't even give them away. PCBs like Zero 2 and Pocket Fighter aren't worth so much either. So far, Raiden (I am assuming it is II or DX) is the only really valuable piece.

If he deals directly, surely there's money to be made selling cabs such as Aeros to a foreign importer, and parts and games here. We've all paid a good price through various middle men.

Yes, I am referring to domestic Japan but if he wants to go abroad, he is going to have a hell of a time to get those crated and off to a location where they can be shipped via boat. I am assuming that most of those machines aren't anywhere close to mint and that no one wants to ship via air.

Truth is, as much as folks like many of us here would love to stumble on a pile of cabs like this, I don't necessarily think the guy is going to come out ahead considering the time and energy that it'll take to make a move on these cabs. The majority are likely mahjong which means worthless game and need a new CP. Think of the rats nests of wiring, absolute filth, and headache of figuring out what's what.

Shou makes a very good point of what effort it'll take just to get them in a position to be crated and shipped. Will it really be profitable in the end?

I don't envy dude (though the teal aeros and consolettes are nice).

He said they would have been disposed of. Even if the manages to sell just the PCBs and some of the cabinets + some control panels it will be better than nothing. He might even make money just by selling some paper and cardboard. ;)

shou speaks sense ,unless you can get someone to buy the load it will be a hard slog of crating and transporting them ....do not scrap them though :(

selling individual cabs is not really an option unless someone in japan wants one. outside of japan shipping per cab is going to hit 500 quid say
cabs are in average condition at best.
it would be worth stripping a few at least for parts
if you are really up for it see if an exporter wants to take a load

but as the man said
" i dont have a solution but i like your problem "

This. Control panels, front doors for cabinets, anything that can easily be shipped in a smallish box. Monitor chassis, etc.

A hell of a time I'm sure, but do you not think a worthwhile one if a willing buyer (such as Johnnychaos) works with him and a shipping company? Those cabs need shifting one way or another anyway. With the current exchange rate, container trips are doable again. First thing, he'd have to put some time into testing.

If it were me - I'd strip all the games out and keep the bits I fancied, then offload everything as-is to an exporter in a 30/70 profit split deal. Just powering them on is enough of a test for this.

I dont know ,looking at the cabs they need someone who has storage so they can be at least worked on a bit and grade them accordingly etc so would kinda rule jc out unless he wants to do that ,for all anyone knows they could all have huge burnin from mahong porn games. considering astros and aero's arent hugely rare

raiden iv :wtf: mid 2000's game

Yeah, I know. Every other game is like mid-to-late 90s, then suddenly Raiden IV... but this Game Center hasn't been used is almost 20 years...

So, when I take inventory, I should be more concerned with the PCBs, right?
