Ddp doj - question about pcb

Post by Hrvat9 »

I have a chance at buying DDP Doj but have some questions first. The battery is removed, that's only to save high scores?
That one EPROM, with the tape is not original right ?
What should I be paying for this?
Thanks in advance!

The image you posted is not accessible.
Depending on state and version, DOJ PCB's usually float around 400-550€

IIRC, the battery was used to power the memory that had the soft-dip settings, but don't quote me on that one.
If the battery is removed, it is good practice to ask the seller if the battery had already leaked or not; a closeup picture of the battery area also helps making sure there is no severe acid damage.

When it comes to the roms, original is usually worth more.
Even though Black label is the more played and sought after version, i don't know exactly which of the versions is more expensive, since it some times depends on rarity.

BTW, we have a specific thread to ask for valuations, it's this one:

Ask on the thread and surely somebody with more specific knowledge is sure to help.

The eprom with the painter's tape just looks like it was converted to Black Label and someone wanted to protect it from UV light. Usually people keep the original removed chip with original rom sticker to sell alongside the board but I don't think it'll make much difference in a sale price. A converted DOJ Black is worth the same as an original white label. Maybe 10 dollars more for the extra chip and the trouble. What's more interesting is the MX chip in the middle of the board with the sticker on it. I don't think I've seen that before? Maybe it's just replacing a chip that went bad. I wonder what the rom sticker says.

DDP DOJ is da bomb. Go for it.

and for your information, you can safely add the battery back like this so you don't have to go and set the options every time you boot up the game:

ps: keep the black label rom!
